Highlights
  • Taormina - Taormina, one of Sicily’s most renowned cities and a top destination in Italy, stands 205 meters above the Ionian Sea, enjoying an exceptional climate and strategic location.
  • Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria - The current Church of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria was constructed after the Capuchins acquired the previous church dedicated to the saint, which was situated outside the city walls.
  • The Odeon - Much smaller than the famous Greek Theater, the Odeon was built during the Roman Empire under Caesar Augustus Octavian in the 2nd century AD.
  • Taormina Centro - Piazza IX Aprile is centrally located on Corso Umberto and is considered the heart of Taormina.
  • Chiesa di San Giuseppe - The Church of San Giuseppe, constructed between the late 1600s and early 1700s, overlooks Piazza IX Aprile, adjacent to the Clock Tower. A double staircase leads to its entrance.
  • Chiesa Madonna della Rocca - The Church of the Madonna della Rocca is perched on the steep mountain overlooking Taormina, near the Saracen Castle.
  • Quattro Fontane di Taormina - Built in Baroque style, it is also known as the “4 fountains” due to the four columns at the corners of the central basin, each topped with sea horses that spout water into the basins below. The fountain was constructed in 1635 by order of the local administrators.
  • Palazzo della Badia Vecchia - Museo archeologico di Taormina - The Badia Vecchia Palace, built in the 14th century, originally served as a tower defending Taormina’s walls.
  • Ancient Theatre of Taormina - The Greek Theater, or Ancient Theater, is the most iconic and significant monument in Taormina. Initially designed for dramatic and musical performances, it was transformed during the Roman era to accommodate gladiatorial games and naval battles, leading to the expansion of the orchestra area to suit its new function as an arena.
  • Palazzo Corvaja - The Corvaja Palace is one of Taormina’s most emblematic monuments, with one side facing Piazza Badia and Corso Umberto and the other facing Piazza Santa Caterina.
