If you only have a “moment” to see Morocco… - Ali provided a wonderful tour of the city - our group felt that the tour exceeded our expectations and was a huge value to us. (The food was an unexpected pleasant surprise.) We would recommend this tour to anyone who has a limited schedule, concerns about safety abroad, and enjoys new experiences.

Great intro to Tangier - Great intro tour to the city. Value for money. Loved the lunch for 15 euros. Felt safe and guided the whole time. Tour took he whole time while in Morocco.

The essential 1 day trip was a great experience - It was a great day out to Morocco. When we bought the tickets it says "essential trip" but it was more like a full excursion day with superb guides Stephanie and Aziz. 5* lovely people, always smiling and happy to help. The Morocco itself is a nice country to visit. I can fully recommend to buy this trip with FRS DFDS. Big fat thanks from " the family" 😄

Recommended - Very nice team, also took great care of our children, so they also kept up with the tour. Booked without a big tour, but were still taken a little by the guide and could see super much within a day.

Excellent visit to neighbouring country - The visit is very well planned in the times. The Estefania Guide is a Pro and was very attentive to the needs of the group. Local Guide Baba explained everything in very attentive detail and was explaining it in Spanish and English.

You have to see it because it's special, but I don't think it'll come back. - Overall very well. The Ali Guide very friendly and attentive. The worst Moroccan passport control on the outbound ship. How it doesn't change too hard to come back. Cheers.

Morocco is worth it, the guide is not - Ferry trip alright but the guides were not really present. We booked the Cultural but got the Essential trip. Ended up with a guide that dragged us around Tangier without asking what or where we wanted to go. Would have loved time with the camels, the large spice market etc. But he planted and left us with ‘the best deals’ for him…wanted us to buy from them. We never got a real order confirmation from DFDS just an email from FSR with merged (wrong) data in French :-)

Good experience but different than advertised - We booked our tickets for the Essential excursion at the DFDS office in downtown Tarifa. At the office, we were told that this package only included tickets for the ferry and a smaller bus tour of Tangier, no guide, no lunch, but we would have free time in the Medina to shop and eat but couldn't stray from the group. She told us where we had to meet up in the Port of Tarifa with the rest of the group. The next day we got to the DFDS office in the Port but there was no one there. We were guided by the port staff to show our tickets, and then go through security. It wasn't until halfway through the ferry ride that one of our DFDS tour guides, Eman, found us and told us to stay with her when we disembarked. In Morocco, another local guide, Ali, led our group on the bus and walking tour. Both were accommodating and friendly, but two big curveballs during the excursion were when they sat us down in local herbalist shops giving promotional bids of their products and the lunch. We spent a long time in the herbalist's store being marketed different medical products instead of seeing more of the medina itself. Then for lunch, they took us to a preset local restaurant, and after the whole meal service said we had to pay 15 euros per person plus a tip. How ridiculous that they didn't tell us this at all upfront when we thought all along lunch would be on our own! After lunch, we had some time left to shop, but most of the vendors in that area just had souvenirs and not local items. Ali started the tour talking about how it Date fruit season in Morocco, but didn't stop at one stall that sold them to have us try/buy them. They also took very secluded and unappealing parts of the Medina where it was easy to get lost, thankfully no one did. Overall it was a good first experience in Morocco but would highly suggest DFDS revise their excursion route and services.

Better for free if you want to enjoy free time, a scam to buy the guide by commission - First if the boat is delayed by inclement weather does not mean that the visit will be prolonged, very little information and a lot of uncontrollability by the guides do not inform you of anything simply catch you pass ready you get on the boat and get off and put you on a bus with a local guide. The experience with the horrible local guide running around without explaining almost anything relevant, I was explaining more to my group than the guide. The only thing he was interested in was taking us to the points where he has the friends who give him commission if we buy something was not until he wanted to make us go in through the nose to the restaurant that we said no that we wanted to go for free that he did not let us and he did not explain where to meet (big central cafe the small square below nothing) of the four hours that he says we have free time only had 2 and because we were a small group and we already told him that enough if not stays in less, do not fool you better go for free.

'Bus tour' a 5 minute trip up the road then dropped off. - Took a day trip booked through DFDS from Tarifa to Tangier last Wednesday (18th September) Paid for a bus tour and 3 hrs free time before being picked up and driven back to the ferry terminal. What actually happened was after the ferry we stood for around an hour before we were taken to a bus by a guy who called himself Mohammed coca cola. My seatbelt didn't work (accept it's a different culture no big deal) We were driven up into town (5 mins due to traffic) Didn't understand a word that was said by the tour guide. We then walked down a hill and were told to have free time, or accompany the tour guide (but for more ££) The souk was definitely worth seeing as was a gorgeous roof top restaurant that we had a delicious lunch at (beware the Moroccans don't have change lol) After about 2 hours we had seen everything. We walked to the castle and decided to walk back to the ferry terminal (a 5 minute walk) We saw other people on our bus walking back too. When we got to the ferry gate a very cross man shouted at us saying we had to go back up to the tour guide. My friend asked why, but the chap just got irate. The officer at the ferry entrance looked at the chap shouting (who he was chatting to as we approached) and told us we could enter as we wished which we did. Other people who arrived back on the coach said the man who took us up was in a very bad mood on the return and that the coach had taken less than 2 minutes to drive back from town. So to sum up: It's (for some strange reason) cheaper on the ferry to book a day tour than to just buy ferry tickets. My advice would be to do your own thing once off the ferry. It's a ten minute walk up to town, which is straight opposite the ferry port. Alternatively there's plenty of blue taxis to the left of the port. Another tip is to board the ferry in Tarifa and get your passport stamped at the booth on the ferry asap. The queue was huge and people were still queuing after the hours journey before they could disembark. Very disappointing non existent tour but Tangier's is definitely worth a visit.
