Taroudant - Depending on your arrival time and check-in, you can explore the city. Taroudant is encircled by a seven-kilometer-long historic city wall around the medina. Activities in Taroudant include exploring this ancient structure. The city wall, made from rammed earth (Pisé), is well-preserved, forming an irregular line with battlemented towers every 50 paces. You can tour the wall and its five gates by carriage. Inside the city walls, low houses, mostly single-story, are densely packed. There are stalls, vaults, and numerous mosques where people work and trade. Visitors can also relax in the central Place Al-Alaouine and observe the lively street scenes.

Taliouine - After breakfast, depart at 8 a.m. through the fertile Souss plain to Taliouine, the saffron capital of Morocco. Nestled in the stunning Souss Massa region, Taliouine is renowned for its significant role in the local economy and its global reputation for saffron.

This small village, situated at an altitude of 1080 meters and 119 kilometers from Taroudant, is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and features one of Morocco’s most impressive geological formations.

Tazenakht - Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a nomadic trading platform.

Ait Ben Haddou - Arrive at AIT BEN HADDOU, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A local guide will explain the history of this remarkable heritage site.

Ouarzazate - Visit Kasbah Taourirte. On request, visit the Atlas film studios. Continue traveling to Agdz.

Agdz - After a drive over a 1600-meter-high pass, you reach Agdz.

Draa Valley - Continue along the Draa Valley, home to over a million date palms, fruit trees, almond, and olive trees. The journey passes through old villages, sand and stone deserts, and camel herds.

Zagora - Follow the Drâa Valley, with its sea of palm trees, tamarisks, and umbrella acacias. It is one of Morocco’s most picturesque river valleys and the longest river oasis at over 100 kilometers. On the way to Zagora, you will pass through small, traditional villages. Between Agdz and Zagora, the river alongside the main road N9 has water year-round. Zagora is a center of agricultural production and an important trading and market place. Caravans once rested and traded here on their way through the Sahara. A signpost in the center reads “52 days to Tombouctou.”

- Zagora - tamgroute - alnif - rissani - merzouga (240 km)

Tamgrout - After breakfast, leave Zagora. In Tamegroute, learn about the centuries-old art of pottery and the treasures of Tamegroute’s unique library. A German-speaking guide will show you the library, which houses one of North Africa’s most valuable and oldest collections of books and Koranic scripts. Then, visit a traditional pottery workshop where families have been making green glazed pottery, Tamegroute’s trademark, by hand for centuries.

Rissani - Once the capital of the Tafilalet Oasis, Rissani was of great importance due to its location. The great ruler Moulay Ali Cherif hailed from here, and his magnificent mausoleum on the city’s southern edge still stands. Tourists flock to Rissani not only for this building but also because it is a gateway to the impressive Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which reach up to 150 meters high.

Merzouga Desert - Enter the sandy desert of Merzouga. Transfer to a dromedary for a 40-minute ride to the tent camp. (Alternatively, luggage can be taken to the camp by jeep.) The camp features comfortable tents for two people with electricity and a sink. Enjoy food around the campfire and sometimes music under the starry sky. Guests can also opt to stay in an auberge, but the camp is highly recommended for a unique experience.

Merzouga - Arfoud - Tinghir - Boumalne and Dades Valley

Erg Chebbi Dunes - After breakfast, spend half a day in the Sahara. Options include a camel ride, jeep tour, or simply relaxing in the sand dunes. Then drive to Tinerhir, an oasis at an altitude of 1342 meters. Visit the impressive Todhra Gorge with its 300-meter-high rock walls.

Erfoud - Continue via Erfoud to Tinerhir.

Tinerhir - At the beginning of the Todra Valley, follow the Todra River for about 15 kilometers to reach the narrowest and most spectacular part of the Todra Gorge. Here, the river has carved deep into the High Atlas rocks. Walk into the narrow area and cross the river on a concrete ford. The red-brown rocks rise almost vertically up to 300 meters on both sides of the gorge.

Boumalne Dades - Experience a hike in the Dadès Valley. A green band of orchards, grain fields, and vegetable patches winds over 30 kilometers into the High Atlas near Boumalne. On a 1.5-hour hike, experience the tranquility and endurance with which the Berbers have cultivated this land for centuries. See the impressive “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and original kasbahs with wide valley views.

Terrace Restaurant with a View - After your hike, stop at a restaurant in the Dadès Valley for refreshments. From the terrace, enjoy a panoramic view of the green belt below, contrasting with the red-brown, sometimes bizarrely shaped rocks. Mighty kasbahs tower over the river, and simple houses in mud villages nestle on the slopes. To the accommodation.

boumalne-dades - kelaate m gouna - boutghrar - ait bougmez

El Kelaa M’gouna - Valley of the Roses. Near Kalaa M’Gouna lies the picturesque Valley of Roses, in full bloom in April/May. Your guide will explain how the roses are grown and harvested. Farmers process the flowers into popular rose oil and rose water. During a coffee break in Kalaa M’Gouna, you can test and buy these regional products.

Ait Bougmez Valley - This is one of the most beautiful regions in Morocco. Stay in an authentic, upscale house with dinner and breakfast.

- AIT BOUGMEZ - CASCAD OUZOUD - MARRAKECH

Ait Bougmez Valley - Experience Morocco in its original form. For centuries, the remote but fertile valley’s economy was based on self-sufficiency. Markets were too far, and donkeys were the only transport. A system of strict controls (agdal) based on the availability, individual needs, and communal use of natural resources (water, soil, wood, etc.) enabled the inhabitants to survive sustainably.

Ouzoud - Ouzoud Waterfalls: 140 km from Marrakech, this is one of the most beautiful sites in the Middle Atlas. Magnificent waterfalls, often adorned with a rainbow, plunge 110 meters into a basin over limestone cliffs amidst lush vegetation. You can swim at the foot of the waterfalls, accessible via a shady path lined with olive trees. At the top of the waterfall, near the impressive gulf, are a dozen ancient flour mills still active thanks to the torrent’s water. At dusk, you can see families of monkeys in the carob trees. A hundred macaque monkeys with beige hair and black eyes live in the cliff caves. If desired, have lunch at a restaurant with a panoramic view of the waterfalls. Continue to Marrakech.

Marrakech - Continue to Marrakesh, the world of Arabian Nights. The city, surrounded by thousands of palm trees, offers many sights: palaces, mosques, Koranic schools, gardens, and the Grand Bazaar with its extensive souks. After checking in, experience the snake charmers, water sellers, fire eaters, and the unique atmosphere of Jemaa el Fna, the huge marketplace. Overnight stay in an authentic, upscale Riad Bahia Salam in the old town with breakfast.

Marrakech - Day 7: Marrakesh

Breakfast. City tour. Visit Koutoubia Mosque, Menara Gardens, Saadien Tombs, and Bahia Palace. In the afternoon, explore the souks (markets) and Jemaa el Fna square. Depending on your return flight time, you may continue your journey to Agadir in the evening. Overnight stay in a hotel with dinner and breakfast.

Breakfast. During the day (depending on the flight time and return flight) there will be a transfer to the airport for the return flight home or the subsequent stay in Agadir, Essaouira, or Marrakech.

Agadir - Agadir or Marrakech airport (departure). After breakfast, our driver/guide will drive you to the airport, marking the end of your Morocco trip. Goodbye.
