Narikala Fortress - Narikala, with parts of the Old Town visible below

Narikala (Georgian: ნარიყალა) is an ancient fortress that overlooks Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and the Kura River. The fortress comprises two walled sections on a steep hill between the sulphur baths and the botanical gardens of Tbilisi. The recently restored St. Nicholas church is located in the lower court.

Dzveli Tbilisi Sulphur Waterfall - Nestled among cliffs in the heart of Tbilisi, the Leghvtakhevi waterfall is a favorite spot for both locals and travelers.

Funicular - The ride up Mt. Mtatsminda on the recently reconstructed Funicular is breathtaking, as are the views from the top. The Funicular Complex restaurant building offers several great places to eat or drink. There is also a large amusement park for kids and adults, bars, cafes, a nightclub, a TV tower, and stunning views over Tbilisi from the 710-meter-high mountain.

Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble - Dating back to the 13th century, Ananuri Fortress was once the residence of the Duchy of Aragvi. The complex includes two castles, with the upper one being well-preserved, and two churches. The Church of the Assumption (Ghvtismshobeli) dates from this period.

Aragvi River - The Tetri Aragvi (White Aragvi) on the left merges with the Shavi Aragvi (Black Aragvi) on the right, just south of Pasanauri. The black color is due to limestone deposits, and even after the two rivers converge, the colors remain distinct for a while before finally blending. It’s quite impressive.

Russian Georgian Friendship Monument - Built in 1983 to mark the 200th anniversary of the Treaty of Georgievsk (1783), this monument commemorates Georgia’s status as a protectorate of the Russian Empire. The name might surprise you, given the past and current conflicts with Russia, but the history is quite complex.

Gergeti Trinity Church - Gergeti Trinity Church (Georgian: წმინდა სამება - Tsminda Sameba) is a well-known name for the Holy Trinity Church near the village of Gergeti in Georgia. Situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri (a left tributary of the river Terek), at an elevation of 2170 meters (7120 feet), under Mount Kazbegi, the church was built in the 14th century and is the only cross-cupola church in the Khevi province. The separate bell tower dates from the same period. Its isolated location on a steep mountain surrounded by vast nature has made it a symbol of Georgia. The 18th-century Georgian author Vakhushti Batonishvili wrote that in times of danger, precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino’s Cross, were brought here for safekeeping.

Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino - The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe (Georgian: ბოდბის წმინდა ნინოს მონასტერი, bodbis ts’minda Ninos monasteri) is a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex and the seat of the Bishops of Bodbe, located 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi, Kakheti, Georgia. Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century. The monastery now functions as a nunnery and is a major pilgrimage site in Georgia due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are enshrined there.

Signagi or Sighnaghi (Georgian: სიღნაღი) is a town in Georgia’s easternmost region of Kakheti and the administrative center of the Signagi Municipality. Although it is one of Georgia’s smallest towns,[2] Signagi is a popular tourist destination due to its location at the heart of Georgia’s wine-growing regions, as well as its picturesque landscapes, pastel houses, and narrow, cobblestone streets. Located on a steep hill, Signagi overlooks the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible in the distance.

Signagi City Walls - Sighnaghi’s City Wall is an impressive remnant of the medieval past (13th century) and is definitely worth a visit. The wall has over 20 towers, each named for the town at the end of the road that passes through each gate. Only a small section is open for walking, but the views overlooking the Alazani Valley are not to be missed.

Tsinandali Palace - Tsinandali (Georgian: წინანდალი) is a village in Kakheti, Georgia, known for its estate and historic winery, which once belonged to the 19th-century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze (1786–1846). It is located in the Telavi district, 79 km east of Tbilisi.

Alaverdi Monastery - Alaverdi Monastery (Georgian: ალავერდის მონასტერი) is a Georgian Eastern Orthodox monastery in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia. While parts of the monastery date back to the 6th century, the present-day cathedral was built in the 11th century by Kvirike III of Kakheti, replacing an older church of St. George.

Gremi (Georgian: გრემი) is a 16th-century architectural monument – the royal citadel and the Church of the Archangels – in Kakheti, Georgia. The complex is what remains of the once-thriving town of Gremi and is located southwest of the present-day village of the same name in the Kvareli district, 175 kilometers east of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

Nekresi Monastery Complex - The Nekresi complex

Nekresi (Georgian: ნეკრესი) is a historic town in Kakheti, Georgia, in modern-day Kvareli Municipality, near the village of Shilda. The town was established by King Pharnajom (around the 2nd-1st centuries BC). In the 4th century AD, King Thrdat built a church here. This church became a refuge for one of the Assyrian fathers, Abibus, in the late 6th century. Around this time, the Diocese of Nekresi was established, which existed until the 19th century.

Shuamta Monasteries - Two of the most important and beautiful architectural monuments of Kakheti are the Dzveli (‘Old’) and Akhali (‘New’) Shuamta Monasteries. Both are situated in a forest of deciduous trees, making them even more captivating.

Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (Georgian: სვეტიცხოვლის საკათედრო ტაძარი, svet’icxovlis sak’atedro t’adzari; literally the Cathedral of the Living Pillar) is an Eastern Orthodox cathedral located in the historic town of Mtskheta, Georgia, northwest of the Georgian capital Tbilisi. A masterpiece of the Early Middle Ages, Svetitskhoveli is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is currently the second-largest church building in Georgia, after the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Shio-Mgvime Monastery - The Shio-Mgvime Monastery (Georgian: შიომღვიმე, Shiomghvime, literally meaning “the cave of Shio”) is a medieval monastic complex in Georgia, near the town of Mtskheta. It is located in a narrow limestone canyon on the northern bank of the Kura River.

Uplistsiche Cave Town - Uplistsikhe (Georgian: უფლისციხე [upʰlistsʰixɛ]; literally, “the lord’s fortress”) is an ancient rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia, about 10 kilometers east of the town of Gori, Shida Kartli. Built on a high rocky left bank of the Mtkvari River, it contains various structures dating from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Ages and is notable for the unique combination of various styles of rock-cut cultures from Anatolia and Iran, as well as the coexistence of pagan and Christian architecture.

Stalin Museum - The Joseph Stalin Museum in Gori, Georgia, is dedicated to the life of Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, who was born in Gori. The museum retains its Soviet-era characteristics.
