Tbilisi-Mtskheta (old capital) tour
Old Town (Altstadt) Tbilisi - Upon arrival and a brief rest, we begin our day exploring the enchanting city of Tbilisi – a city full of marvels. Our first stop is the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, the tallest cathedral in Georgia, known for its unique architecture that blends various Georgian church styles. Next, we head to Metekhi, perched on a hill overlooking the Mtkvari River, Rike Park, and the Bridge of Peace – ranked as the 13th most unusual bridge in the world and a modern architectural gem. We will descend from Metekhi to the bridge, passing through Rike Park. On the bridge, you can capture numerous photos with views of old Tbilisi, including the presidential palace, Narikala Fortress, the Mtkvari River, and Metekhi in the background. The view from below is truly breathtaking. We will then take a cable car to Narikala Fortress, which once served as the city’s entrance gate, offering a panoramic view of the entire city. After Narikala, we will visit the Bath District. As you approach Abanotubani (the Bath District), the sulfur smell intensifies due to the naturally occurring hot sulfur springs. The Legvtakhevi waterfall, located in the city’s heart, is the first Tbilisi landmark where you can capture unforgettable memories with just a few clicks of your video camera. Enjoy a stroll through Meidan Square along the narrow Sharden Street, lined with cozy cafes, restaurants, wine tasting bars, and souvenir shops, leading to the statue of Tamada, a replica of a small statue found near Kutaisi dating back to the 7th century BC, showcasing Georgia’s ancient wine tradition. From Tbilisi, we will visit the old capital of Iberia – Mtskheta, featuring the magnificent Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and ascend to the Jvari Monastery, which majestically overlooks Mtskheta with a stunning view of the confluence of Georgia’s two major rivers – the Mtkvari and Aragvi. In the evening, you can opt for dinner at a Georgian restaurant for an additional $25 per person. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Tbilisi – Stepantsminda
Stepantsminda - After breakfast, we head north to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi). Along the way, we will visit the Zhinvali water reservoir, a breathtaking green lake with water branches around tree-covered hills. Our next stop is the spectacular Ananuri architectural complex, a former summer residence of the Aragvi Dukes, notable for its towers dating back to the 16th-17th centuries. From the highest tower of the fortress, you can enjoy a superb view of the Zhinvali reservoir and the fortress itself. After Ananuri, we continue along the Georgian Military Road leading to Vladikavkaz, Russia, and stop near the confluence of the White and Black Aragvi rivers, a sight to behold. In Pasanauri, you can taste the best Georgian national dish – Khinkali (additional $20). Our next destination is Gudauri, a ski resort in Georgia offering a magnificent panoramic view of snow-capped mountains. You can also taste Georgian mineral spring water that flows down a mountain slope, forming stalagmitic rock – travertine. Our final stop is Kazbegi, a small town near the Russian border, where you will see the stunning Mkinvartsveri, the seventh-highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains. Reaching the Gergeti Trinity Church, located at an altitude of 2170 meters by a 4WD vehicle (additional $20), is an unforgettable experience. If weather conditions are favorable, you will feel as if you are ‘walking above the clouds.’ (You can also visit the magnificent Gveleti waterfall and walk along a road through high cliffs. It is one of Georgia’s largest waterfalls, descending from a glorious cliff in a rocky area filled with various plants and wildflowers. Note: Adding the Gveleti waterfall to the tour costs an additional $5). Overnight in Tbilisi.
Tbilisi – Borjomi – Batumi
Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park - After breakfast and checking out, we head west to Batumi, Georgia’s second-largest city by population. On the way, we will visit the Borjomi resort town, renowned for its nature and pure mineral waters known worldwide. You can taste a glass of mineral water here and take some home. Borjomi exudes an aura of timelessness. After this charming town, we will proceed to the Batumi Black Sea beach. Overnight in Batumi.
Batumi city sightseeing tour
Batumi - After breakfast and a visit to the Black Sea beach, we will explore the Botanical Garden (additional $10) in Batumi, located in the Green Cape area, offering stunning views of the Black Sea. Next, we will embark on a walking tour of the old city, known for its intricate architectural details, including buildings adorned with chimeras, mermaids, and other mythical creatures. We will visit Europe Square, Batumi Piazza, Alphabetic Tower, and the statue of Ali and Nino. In the evening, you can enjoy swimming in the Black Sea. Overnight in Batumi.
