Gveleti Waterfall - Situated in the village of Gveleti, 7 km from Stepantsminda, the waterfall is accessible after a scenic drive through the Dariali Gorge, followed by a short, easy hike along a narrow path. “Gveleti” means “place of snakes” in Georgian, so be on the lookout for local wildlife!
Mtskheta - Gori - Uplistsikhe Tour
Uplistsikhe Cave Town - Uplistsikhe is a rock-hewn city located 10 km east of Gori, on the left bank of the Mtkvari River. As one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, it was first mentioned in the 7th century. Uplistsikhe and its surrounding archaeological and architectural monuments belong to a unique group, with the oldest dating back to the early Bronze Age, representing the Kura-Araxes culture.
Stalin Museum - The museum dedicated to Soviet leader Joseph Stalin was established in 1937 and houses 60,000 exhibits. It includes the memorial house where Stalin is believed to have been born, an exhibition building, and Stalin’s personal train car, which he used for travels to Tehran, Yalta, and Potsdam. The museum also contains Stalin’s personal belongings.
Jvari Church - This 6th-century Georgian Orthodox monastery is perched on a hill opposite Mtskheta, at the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Shortly after adopting Christianity, King Mirian III erected a large wooden cross here. In the latter half of the 6th century, Guaram, the ruler of Kartli, built a small church beside the Holy Cross. The church is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - This Georgian architectural marvel, dating back to the 11th century, has served as the country’s religious center for centuries. The complex includes the church, a gate, a bell tower, castles, and clerical residences. The mantles of Christ and the Prophet Elijah are preserved in the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. The tomb of Tbilisi’s founder, King Vakhtang Gorgasali, is also located inside. The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
