Georgy. Mortvili - Excursion to Martvili Canyon October 23, 2023 We would like to express our gratitude to guide Georgiy! He made our trip easy, positive, fun and unforgettable! Super jokes, humor and care for all tourists. Very positive and cheerful, doesn’t get tired and always tells something interesting! I wish there were more of them young, active and cheerful! Thanks a lot! We really enjoyed it! The excursion itself and the views of the canyon and cave are also very impressively beautiful! The organizers and the bus are great! The driver is very careful! Thanks a lot!

Loved it - trip from Tbilisi to Martvili - We went on an excursion on October 23, 2023 with guide Georgiy to Martvili. I really liked it, he was positive, cheerful, talked interestingly all the way, treated me to drinks and maintained a good atmosphere. Everyone saw what they wanted. Also the driver was very calm and friendly. I highly recommend it.☺️

la - Amazing place. Super guide. If it was too late, I advise you not to go. I would like to express my gratitude to Karim who organized the tour. You can also consult him while choosing a tour.

Stunningly splendid scenery - Absolutely gorgeous scenery. The lush green colours and blue-aqua-green tint of the waters of Martvili Canyon are surely unforgettable. I honestly felt like I had stepped back into time as it felt so untouched and rugged. The cave was also breathtaking, I would definitely recommend the boat ride in both locations.

FUN ADVENTURES! - I'm a solo traveller, visiting Georgia for the first time. This tour was very fun, adventurous, and very informative. Our guide, Timo was very knowledgeable about the places we went to. He will tell you stories, history and legends even during the ride so the trip doesn't feel very long nor boring. He makes sure nobody gets left behind and yet keeps with the timing schedule of the trip. They gave free chacha (for those who drink) Highly recommended trip to Mtskheta, Gori and Uplistsikhe. My fave is Uplistsikhe. Going to take other tours with them. 👍

The location was stunning but the tour guide was boring - Was an amazing tour. But the tour guide was a little dull! The guide didn't speak English properly. Even thou we requested for an English guide. He was rude to some elderly folks in the tour. He slept most of the way. If it wasn't for the beautiful location, I would have put 1 rating.

Beautiful places, horrible operator, insufficient guide - The canyon and the cave are interesting places to visit, but the whole excursion was terribly organized. The "guide" told us nothing about the places we have visited, he just kept on being the dj on the bus or he just slept... The tickets for the cave were not pre-booked and we have wasted 1 hour waiting for our turn to get tickets and enter the cave. Needless to say that the "guide" has never accompanied the group at the places of interest. We were not given the opportunity to pre-order our meals, so we had to wait for an hour to get our lunch. Punctuality was another problem and due to it, the whole excursion lasted more than expected (07:00-23:30). The minivan seats were uncomfortable, even for a short woman as i am. If i could have booked this excursion from another operator, i would have done it...

Worst experience ever - There was nothing other than terrible experience for us. Such a huge disappointment. The tour guide spoke only in Russian the whole time and said only few words in English for name sake. He did not give any instructions on where we are headed or about the location. It felt as if the guide was on his private tour. It was just 16 hours of journey in that car with this guy shouting in Russian the whole time. We booked other tours as well from Viator and had good experience but this one was the worst thing ever. The timing mentioned was from 7-9pm, We left the place around 7:20 and we came at midnight 11:30 and we did not even cover all the place. The whole purpose of us booking this tour was to experience the boat ride in martivilli canyon and in Prometheus cave and it was closed in both the location. It is their responsibility to check whether it is open or not before taking the tourists all the way down there. We were just pushed in small mini van with people sitting down and stuff and took us to boring small waterfalls charging us 30 GEL each. The guide was just chitchatting with any Russian on the way and did not care about the timings and was not bothered about the tour. He did not even introduced himself so we do not know his name. Viator needs to take proper action towards this guy so that the tourists will not have go through this horrible experience.

What a trip - This was a tough experience. We arrived at the meeting point at 7 in the morning where we were greeted with the blunt words „there‘s no tour today“ - even though we had booked and confirmed the night prior. Nice. In classic Georgian manner the guys of the agency did not really bother giving anymore information. However, we could tell that they tried to make some arrangements, which is why we waited around for about 20 minutes only to be abruptly asked to follow some other guy who then took us to a square nearby and ushered us into a van with little to no explanation to what was happening. Is this our tour? Is this the tour to the cave and canyon? We didn‘t quite know. Quick disclaimer here: The tour we were on turned out to be of some other agency. However, as Ushba Travel made us go on this trip they still get this review and the bad rating. After some while the van finally started moving. Some guy who appeared to be the guide was beginning his announcements - all in Russian. After a couple of minutes we asked wether the tour would be in English or Russian and well, it turned out that the tout actually would have been in Russian but the guide agreed on explaining a few things for us in English. throughout the tour he actually spoke English with us but beside of some jokes on us there wasn’t really a lot of informative things coming from the guide. After hours of driving it turned out that the guide didn’t really like to give any information about our Stopps, how long they gonna take and what’s the plan for the rest of the day. So after all this lack of safety we actually saw the caves and the canyons but the whole experience was overshadowed by the manners of our guide and how he pushed us through the trip. Asking for the time we should arrive back in Tbilisi he said that it would be around 2am which was hours after the planned arrival and way to late which made it a good 17 hour trip in a small bus and just made the tour a super exhausting time. The planned stop for a traditional Georgian dinner was late at 7pm and since this wasn’t really said at any point everyone was starving already. This should definitely be communicated ahead or noted on the tour so that everyone could at least grab up a snack somewhere. At to top it all of, the guide spent most of the day with slowly getting drunk. After all of this we would not do the tour again and even though that the places we saw we’re beautiful and interesting it was just not worth the money and time on the road and we can’t recommend to do this tour to anyone.

Would avoid - This tour may have been great if we spoke Russian. But we don’t. And we specifically booked an English tour. The guide was very rude to one of the tourists who asked him to speak more in English. There was also no AC in the van on a 35+c day. The destination is beautiful but you will be spending about 12 hours of your day in a van (and if you’re as unlucky as we are, with someone shouting in a foreign language for most of the way). Overall would not recommend.
