Great intro to Georgian history and culture - short but rich experience - I did the half-day tour to Mtskheta because I wanted something easy and light (after a leisurely breakfast/ brunch instead of having to wake up so early), but still get a good taste of Georgia's history. This tour was indeed a good intro to the beauty that Georgia has so much of. The tour had three stops: Jvari Monastery (oldest church structure in Georgia), Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (where part of Jesus' robe is supposed to be buried!), and a bonus, Samtavro Monastery, which is a private church that used to be owned by the first king and queen who made Christianity Georgia's official religion (and are still buried there now). The tour guide, Paata, was very knowledgeable and passionate about Georgian history, culture and architecture. He mentioned he used to do archaeological digs with the National Museum (!), so I would say he was a trustworthy source of information. I learned a lot of interesting details, which really gave me a great appreciation of the country and made the rest of my stay so much richer. I usually ask a lot of extra questions on tours, and he was able to answer all of them without skipping a beat. Even the locals I talked to afterwards did not know many of the details I learned on the tour! Paata was also very organized about making sure the Russian speakers and English speakers got equal attention (and information). He kept up the narration both on the way to the sites and at the sites, which was useful to give context and save time before we got there. He made sure we spent enough time at each stop while also keeping us on schedule -- which can be very hard to do with tourists from different cultures. As for the booking process, I really appreciate how flexible they were about last-minute bookings. You can even book a few hours before the tour! I was able to contact them by WhatsApp since I could no longer book online and it was my only free day for a tour. They were very accommodating and friendly. Made me feel all the more that Georgia is such a welcoming country. The "bus" is actually a van, which is a really nice size for a tour group -- not too small like a car or crowded like a real bus. They also had multiple pickup points to make it convenient for everyone. Despite that, we left on time and arrived back to Tbilisi early enough to still enjoy some daylight walking around the city. Would recommend to all first-timers in Georgia!

Great scenic trip - but guide could have been better (English explanations were very short) - Uflistsikhe is an amazing place. Very scenic. A must visit on your Tbilisi itinerary. The guide could have been better ... Actually guide was very short on explaination in English, but I guess Russian was ok)
