• Jvari Church - Jvari Monastery, a VI century church and monastery, is situated in the eastern part of Mtskheta, at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, atop a rocky mountain. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - A masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture, Svetitskhoveli is the principal Orthodox Christian Cathedral in Georgia. It serves as a major pilgrimage site on the Silk Road, the resting place of Christ’s Robe, the burial site of Georgian Kings, and one of the most visited locations in Georgia. Constructed between 1010 and 1029, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name Svetitskhoveli translates to “life-giving pillar.”
• Shio-Mgvime Monastery - Shio-Mgvime is nestled in a picturesque forested area on the left bank of the Mtkvari River in Georgia. The route to it winds through a narrow limestone canyon starting from the main square in Mtskheta. This medieval Orthodox monastery comprises several buildings from various periods: the oldest being the Monastery of St. John the Baptist (560-580), a simple cruciform structure with an octagonal dome; the Upper Church Theotokos (12th century), originally a domed church that was destroyed by invasion and restored as a basilica in 1678; the Refectory (12th-17th centuries); the Cave of St. Shio (6th century); and a small chapel (12th century) adorned with medieval murals, standing separately on a nearby hill.

Embark on a day to remember in Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. Our journey begins at 9am from Tbilisi, with Svetitskhoveli Cathedral being our first stop, which acted as the spiritual hub of Georgian Christianity for several centuries. Next, we explore the 6th-century cross monastery, a pioneering example of cross-shaped church, showcasing a new kind of sculptural embellishment in architecture. This location offers a remarkable view over Mtskheta city and the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. After the Cross Monastery, the tour leads us to the Shiomghvime Monastery, established by one of the Assyrian fathers, Shio, during later part of the 6th century. Situated near Mtskheta, the journey to this monastery will lead us through picturesque valleys and breathtaking canyons.
