• Jvari Church - The Jvari Monastery, dating back to the 6th century, is one of Georgia’s oldest monasteries. It offers breathtaking views of the town of Mtskheta.
• Uplistsikhe - Uplistsikhe is a cave town near Gori. At the turn of the 2nd and 1st millennia, a powerful community utilized the existing caves in the Uplistsikhe area. Our guide will share fascinating stories during your visit to this mystical place.
• Kintsvisi Monastery - Located in the Shida Kartli region of eastern Georgia, the Kintsvisi Monastery is a Georgian Orthodox monastery situated 10 kilometers from the town of Kareli, on a forested slope of a high mountain in the Dzama valley. Its main church is a remarkable example of brick architecture from Georgia’s Golden Age. The monumental mural is one of the largest among Medieval Georgian artistic ensembles.
• Ortubani - The Ortubani Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin, also known as the Mdzovreti Fortress-Hall Complex, is located in Shida Kartli, in the village of Ortubani, Kareli Municipality. This late feudal era monument, dating from the 16th-17th centuries, includes the Church of the Virgin of Ortubani, a bell tower, a tower, a fence, and a house. The construction of the fortress-hall is linked to the relocation of the Tsitsishvili feudal center to Dzovreti in the early 17th century, turning Mdzovreti into a political center of nobility. In the 19th century, the Tsitsishvili family left, and the city ceased to exist, leading to the establishment of the new village of Ortubani on its ruins.
• Sarkineti - The Sarkineti Fathers’ Monastery is located in the village of Sarkineti, in the Shida Kartli area, within the Dzama valley. Carved into a massive cliff, the temple’s construction began in 2008 and was completed and blessed in 2011. The Shio cave church of Sarkineti is the first cliff-built church since the 14th century. Access to the temple is through a 5-meter long corridor. The church features two arched windows cut into the cliff and a belfry with arches on top. The interior is fully painted.
