• Memorial History of Georgia - The next stop is the Chronicles of Georgia, a massive stone monument known by various names, often referred to as the “Georgian Stonehenge” or “Georgian History Memorial.” This monument illustrates scenes from Georgia’s 3,000-year history and was designed by Zurab Tsereteli. It consists of 16 large columns, each approximately 35 meters tall. Constructed in 1985 during Georgia’s time as part of the Soviet Union, the top sections of these columns feature the most renowned and influential kings, queens, and heroes of Georgia. The site offers a stunning panoramic view of Tbilisi Lake.
• Tsminda Sameba Cathedral - The tour will not miss the most significant site, the Sameba Cathedral. Known as the Holy Trinity Tsminda Sameba, it is considered a symbol of new Georgia. The cathedral’s beauty and size are truly awe-inspiring, majestically rising on St. Ilya’s hill. At 101 meters high, Sameba is the tallest church in Georgia. Built on a grand scale, its golden dome is visible from almost anywhere in Tbilisi. The cathedral is part of a larger complex that includes the Patriarch’s residence, a monastery, a school of theology, an academy, and nine chapels, five of which are underground.
