• Yavne’el St 26 - The AlternativeShabbat initiative invites visitors from diverse origins to partake in a genuine Shabbat (Jewish Sabbath) celebration hosted by youthful creatives, musicians, or individuals still exploring their life’s path. Attendees of AlternativeShabbat are treated to an educational overview of Shabbat while enjoying vegan delicacies, vocalizing melodies, and engaging in discussions on typically avoided subjects such as politics, the challenges faced by the LGBTQ community in Israel, and the plight of foreign workers.\n\nWe kick off with a broad explanation of Shabbat from our perspective as young Jewish individuals in Israel, including the significance of \

We’ll be gathered in a commodious residence situated in the core of Tel Aviv, in the vicinity of Neve Tzedek, mere five minutes away from Jaffa and the shoreline. The accommodation is spacious with air conditioning, accommodating up to 30 individuals. Seating arrangements include mattresses. Participation in our sing-along sessions is mandatory. Be cautionary as we will not provide earplugs.

Our gathering will commence with a broad overview about Shabbat from our perspective as young Jewish men in Israel, along with discussing the significance of “Tikkun Olam” in our routine life (“Tikkun Olam” being a Jewish belief about “ameliorating the condition of the world”).

Following that, we engage in singing some tunes and occasionally have a game or two. Later, we diverge into smaller group discussions that occur organically with the (new) colleagues seated alongside.

The AlternativeShabbat was envisioned and brought to life by a group of creative artists and teachers aiming to establish an enjoyable evening schedule for incoming vacationers of various backgrounds to undergo an original Friday evening in the city of indulgences ;)
