Reviewed at 2024-09-06: Worth it! - We had an incredible time on this tour. Our guide Maria was a wealth of knowledge and shared a lot of interesting information and graphics at the ruins. She checked in with us often and was very friendly and caring along with everyone else on the tour. It is a long day of walking and driving, but the A/C in the van was great and the driver was a total pro. We were early at every location on the trip and missed a lot of the crowds. Cenote Hubiku was beautiful and the cochinita hype was real. Don’t hesitate to book this one!
As the afternoon approaches, the weather may bring a chance of rain, but fear not, as the tour is well-prepared to ensure a seamless experience. With a knowledgeable guide and small group sizes, you’ll have the opportunity to delve deep into the history and culture of the region, making it a day to remember.
Embracing the Spirit of the Mayan Jungle
On November 17th, the adventure continues with a visit to the Ek Balam Ruins, a site that offers a more intimate glimpse into the Mayan world. The Ek Balam Ruins Expedition begins at 6:30 AM, providing ample time to explore the archaeological wonders before the afternoon clouds roll in.
The highlight of this expedition is undoubtedly the climb to the top of the Pyramid at Ek Balam, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding jungle. As you stand atop this ancient structure, take a moment to appreciate the ingenuity and artistry of the Mayan people.
After exploring the ruins, the tour takes you to the Hubiku Cenote, a sacred site revered by the Mayans. Here, you can take a refreshing dip in the cool, clear waters, surrounded by the natural beauty of the cenote. The experience is both invigorating and calming, offering a perfect balance to the day’s adventures.
Reviewed at 2024-03-26: Add Ak Balam and swimming in the cenote to your Cancùn trip! - Ak Balam is an amazing ruin that everyone should see. We highly recommend it for couples and families! You can climb to the top of the kings tomb and noble’s quarters. Then climb the observatory! Then guide, Nestor and driver, Javi took the 12 of us in the van to the cenote for a swim in the crystal clear fresh water. Valladolid was a colonial city, offering a surprising lovely town of affordable souvenirs. Thank you Cancun Adventures!
The day concludes with a visit to a traditional Mayan village, where you can immerse yourself in the daily life and customs of the local people. This cultural experience is a fitting end to a weekend filled with discovery and adventure.
