Our first hot balloon... - Our first hot balloon experience was a great one. It’s a fantastic activity if you’re visiting Mexico City for a short stay.

Smooth experience,... - Smooth experience, everything was organized so well by Volare. Felt safe on the air balloon (even for someone afraid of heights!) and the extra time to explore the pyramids was perfect.

Is it worth it? - Worth every penny. Get Juan Diaz as your pilot, if possible. It is magical “floating” over the Pyramids. Be sure to spend time looking at them close up afterwards. That was also worth it.

Private balloon flight. - We had an excellent hot air balloon ride. We did the private balloon for two people. It was well worth the extra money and the experience. We flew directly over the pyramids and were in the air for about an hour and ten minutes. We noted the other balloons seemed to have ten to sixteen people in them; so the private tour is the best way to go. Everyone at Volare was very friendly. The transport to and from Mexico City went smoothly. The breakfast was good. It was a great time.

Don't miss out! - From booking to pick-up to drop off, everything was seamless. Pick-up was on time. The balloon flight was amazing! A must do and see if you're in mexico city, you 110% will not regret it. All of the staff were amazing, very helpful and explained it all in English. Highly recommend.

This was a great tour!... - This was a great tour! The bus driver picked us up at the hotel and we went to the site. It was crowded, but fun! Great experience.

Underwhelming experience - The experience fell short of expectations. The positives were that my group felt very safe on the ride and the view was fantastic. Here are the problems, first of all we were supposed to be picked up at 4:30 AM but the van arrived an hour late. When I called and spoke with support all they could tell me was that they were late due to some other passengers which I have trouble believing considering the van only had 2 other people besides our group. Due to how late we were, we missed out on seeing the sunrise and most of the other groups balloons had already set were too far and didn’t appear in any of our pictures while riding. Landing was good besides the part that we landed on a man’s farm and he came out upset holding a rifle. Once we got back to the welcome center for breakfast we were once again let down by the quality of the food. It all had no flavor which I’m not sure is done on purpose due to the tourists from other countries but regardless it was not good. Lastly we did not appreciate the drop off for Teotihuacan pyramids. We were given no instructions besides to talk to the workers waiting for us. We did so to find out that they were trying to sell us a tour. That whole interaction seemed dirty and misleading because it made it seem like we were set up for a transaction not a good experience. So at the end of the day while I enjoyed the balloon ride I can’t say I’d come back or recommend it due to the poor service and high costs.

Lack of transparency in the invoice & the failure to clearly state the true cost of the ride. - While the pickup, drop-off, and the balloon ride itself were enjoyable, I regret to share that our overall experience with the company was disappointing due to misleading pricing information. At the time of booking, it appeared as though we were receiving a 50% discount, which excited many in our group. We assumed this discount was offered because of our large group of 11 people. The invoice we received showed the amount paid as a deposit and the remaining balance, which aligned with the expected total cost assuming a 50% discount.
We made the reservation approximately six weeks in advance. However, upon contacting their customer service a couple of days before the ride, we were surprised to learn that no discount had actually been applied, and we were required to pay the full, published price. The option provided was we can cancel the trip, by then, it was too late. Unfortunately, by that point—being so close to the ride date—we didn’t have enough time to explore other options or compare prices with other providers.
I was particularly frustrated by the lack of transparency in the invoice and the failure to clearly state the true cost of the ride. I even asked my wife to review the invoice to ensure the discounted price had been correctly reflected. Had the actual full cost been made clear at the time of booking, I would have taken the opportunity to consider other companies.
The situation left me feeling misled, and I even considered opting out of the ride entirely. Ultimately, I chose to go ahead with it at my wife’s urging. While I appreciated the kindness and professionalism of the pilot and staff on the day of the ride, I am very disappointed with the company’s misleading approach to pricing and how it was presented during the booking process.
