Highlights

The Golden Temple

Golden Temple - Our company guide will meet you at the pickup point and escort you to The Golden Temple. Known as the “MECCA” of the Sikhs, every Sikh around the world dreams of visiting and paying their respects at The Golden Temple. The main shrine is located in the center of the Holy Pool, called “AMRIT SAROVAR,” where the eleventh master of Sikhs is kept during the day. Visitors walk along a narrow path to pay homage and receive blessings from the master. This complex houses the world’s largest free kitchen, which operates 24/7. Every day, approximately 80,000 people are fed without any discrimination based on color, creed, or caste, ensuring no one goes hungry in Amritsar. You can explore the dining hall, cooking area, and chapati-making section, and even participate in voluntary services.

Wagah Border - In the afternoon, you can head to the Wagah border to witness the flag-lowering ceremony between Indian and Pakistani soldiers. This event takes place daily at sunset, attracting around 17,000 visitors who come to enjoy this patriotic ceremony. The crowd chants national slogans like “HINDUSTAN ZINDABAD,” meaning “Long live India,” and girls dance to Bollywood patriotic songs. Following these activities, Indian BSF (Border Security Force) soldiers and Pakistani Rangers perform a drill parade and lower their national flags together.

The Golden Temple. - Wow what a beautiful place to visit. We queued to go in for about an hour and a half, but this was so worth the wait. It was so fantastic inside & a priviledge to hear the morning prayers. The gardens are kept so lovely, a must visit place.

Fantastic and memorable experience in Amritsar - We did the Golden temple and Attari-Wagah border tour with Chander. He was professional, punctual , knowledgeable and courteous. My parents who are 70 + and my daughter who is 15 equally enjoyed the tour. We did the village tour with Paramjit who was on par with Chander with his professional etiquette and knowledge The local family were great hosts and kept us well fed. Their haveli style house had antique furniture and they had a lot of entertaining stories to tell us.The activities of the village tour included kite flying, turban tying, visit to the basmati paddy fields and guava/pear farm on a horse drawn cart.. All in all this is 100 times better than visiting Sadda Pind !

Outstanding tour - We did both the Amritsar Golden Temple and walking tour of Amritsar as well as the horse drawn carriage tour with Chander and his crew. Both were excellent. The carriage tour took us behind the scenes to so many interesting places we would otherwise not have experienced. The guide's love of the country and culture and exceptional knowledge of history helped us love and appreciate India and its people even more. We learned so much more about the social and political past of this colorful nation. These days with Chander and Tanga tours enriched our time and understanding of the Amritsar area in so many ways. We were able to truly see the real India in everyday life with the many stops and visits, it made our trip so much more than a sightseeing adventure. Zoe and Curt Dams Nanaimo BC Canada
