Duration: 5 hours
Cancellation: 1 day learn more
Highlights
  • Grand Etang National Park/Lake - The tour starts when you’re picked up by your local guide in a comfortable and air-conditioned minivan.\n\nAs we journey to the where the hike begins, in the island’s interior, you will traverse villages and get a chance to learn about the island’s rich history and culture. Before we hike, we make a stop at the Grand Etang Lake and rainforest, in Grenada’s largest national park to take in the beautiful scenery. After this scenic stop, we take drive a short drive to an old agricultural estate where the fun begins. \nThe hike takes about 1-hour each way, on an often muddy trail. For much of the time you are going down a path cut into one side of a huge valley. You will see lots of bird life and, occasionally, monkeys. \n\nSee two waterfalls cascading into perfect swimming pools. Fish and crayfish dart around in the river. Don’t worry they won’t bite. You are free to swim in one or both of them. If you choose to swim in the cool river waters, you will feel wonderfully refreshed and rejuvenated. It is a perfect place to swim, relax or just enjoy the tranquility. \nOnce you’ve had enough fun, we hike back to the awaiting minivan, head down the mountain, and back to your hotel/port.

Additional Information

Embark on a hike that commences from an ancient farming domain nestled high in the mountains and proceeds down into the tropical rainforest. The journey, which takes approximately an hour to and fro, often includes traversing a slippery trail. The route primarily involves negotiating your way along a pathway chiseled into one side of a gigantic gorge, offering the chance to witness diverse bird species and occasionally, primates.

At the gorge’s base, encounter the river and ascend a little to reach the final stop. This spot is marked by two waterfalls that tumble into sublime swimming reservoirs. River creatures like fish and crayfish can be seen darting in the water. It’s the ideal location for a refreshing dip. Immersing in the chilly mountain water will leave you feeling invigorated and will significantly soften your hair afterwards.

  • It is recommended you bring a swimsuit and towel

Beautiful trek through the rainforest - Our original booking had to be cancelled due to a tropical downpour and risk of flooding. I was impressed that the company put safety ahead of profits. Some days later, I was able to arrange a suitable day to reschedule our trek and was so glad we were able to squeeze it in at the end of our holiday. Our guide, Jenson, made the whole experience great fun. With two children in our party it seemed a much better idea for us to be transported and guided to this beauty spot rather than try to organise it all. independently. Thanks Jenson.

Great Hike! THINGS TO KNOW - OK...so there is no question, the hike is beautiful and is a must if you enjoy the outdoors and adventure and natural beauty :) Things I wished that I knew before the hike... 1. The hike is moderate and relatively short- 25 minutes into the lower 2 sisters falls at a conservative pace. There are no spots where I contemplated death with a wrong step. Going into the falls, you will be going downhill. Uphill coming out of the falls. The reason why I ranked the hike moderate is because there is a noticeable sharp gradient in the terrain. (inc/dec of elevation in a short time). I'm athletic and i'm ok-good shape and with the heat and backpack, I stopped a few times because I was breathing hard. 2. We dressed in long pants and sleeves for bugs BUT we were the only people that were. I did not experience issues with bugs but i'm sure they were there. 3. There are some low spots that will be moist/wet especially after a rain event so you might not want to use your favorite hiking shoes :) 4. They say that you should not swim in the pools/falls. Having said that, honestly, everyone did. The larger fall/pool is safe and gets to about 10 feet. The smaller pool /fall gets to about 8 feet. We were jumping from the small falls into the pool but make sure you have someone in the party to go into the pool first and scout the rocks. It is very safe but you will notice in the small falls submerged rocks from the jump platform so you will want to jump on an angle into the center of pool :). 5. They have locals that will identify themselves to you as guides and will jump from high falls if you tip them. They are respectful. 6. Save a moment for a Carib on the way out at the little bar as a congratulations for your workout. Hmm...that's probably why i had to stop a few times ;) Enjoy and have fun and take lots of pictures!!!

Goregous waterfall hike! - My teenage daughter and I took the Seven Sisters Waterfall Hike as our second outing with Henry Safari Tours. This is an excellent tour! Communication the day before was helpful, hotel pick up was timely, and our tour guide Jenson was wonderful - funny, resourceful, and kind. The climate at the waterfall is cooler and cloudier than at the coast. The hike is under an hour even at a slow pace, downhill on the way there, up on the return. There are restrooms at the start of the hike and walking sticks are provided. The mist turned briefly to heavy rain during our hike. Jenson plucked leaves for the three of us on the tour for umbrellas. It was muddy of course but gorgeous and refreshing. We swam in the pools at the base of the falls and my daughter leapt in from the top. There were only a handful of others there at the same time. On the way back, Jenson offered us an alternate drive home to see other views. At our request, he stopped by a favorite roti stand so we could pick up lunch. I highly recommend this tour and this company.

Swimming in the waterfall is a not to missed opportunity! - The hike to the waterfall is brilliant. Descending into the rainforest, being surrounded by flora and fauna and spices galore! The waterfall itself was the perfect cool-down after the hike! Such a wonderful opportunity to swim fully immersed in nature. The hike back up is tougher, but more than manageable. And kept entertained all the way by our brilliant guide Michael. Who is fun and engaging company - as well as super knowledgeable. We hadn’t meant to do this tour, but I feel so privileged that we did. Loved it.

Once in a lifetime experience! - Just wow! 🤩 A once in a lifetime experience. (If you don’t live in Grenada! lol) My tour guide, Rolley was really amazing. This was my first hike. And he literally took me by the hand through the more challenging parts. So worth it at the end! Absolutely gorgeous! Be prepared with hiking shoes, swim wear & towel. I highly recommend!

Seven Sisters Hike - Grenada - Michael was an excellent guide. We loved the muddy hike to the falls, getting in the water, and watching a local jump. He gave us a great history lesson on the island during the drive. We got to meet Lovey, a Mona monkey, at Grand Etang Lake. What a great experience. I fully recommend. You must be in decent shape and wear good hiking shoes that can get wet, for the hike. And don’t forget the bug spray.

Jump in the waterfall! - Unique way to experience Grenada. Make sure that you bring whatever you need to make you comfortable to jump into the waterfall, it is magical. My only concern is that the path is not as straightforward as some of the other reviewers have made it seem. It is steep, rocky, and slippery. I am surprised that guests are not regularly injured. You need to wear sensible shoes and be in reasonably good shape. You will need to use the walking stick they give you. Someone who is older, frailer, or carrier a few extra pounds will likely struggle. If you need more time, just tell your guide. Don't let the faster guest or the guide set the pace. Besides, the scenery is beautiful. Finally, don't be afraid to have the mona monkeys climb on you.
