Highlights
  • Thermopylae - Thermopylae, Thermopylae, Phthiotis Region, Central Greece

Thermopylae is a place in Greece where a narrow coastal passage existed in antiquity. The Battle of Thermopylae was fought between an alliance of Greek city states led by King Leonidas of Sparta and the Persian Empire of Xerxes.

The Gates of Fire: Deriving from the Hot sulphur Springs and in Greek mythology the cavernous entrances to Hades.

The monument of King Leonidas: Erected in 1955 and created by the sculptor Vasos Falireas. The brass sculpture of the Spartan King with his spear and shield is truly amazing.

Hotsprings: The baths of Thermopylae could be described as a paradise of healing spas. High end hydrotherapy facilities focusing on balneotherapy not only as a treatment for specific ailments, illnesses and injuries but also to promote general well-being. Of the 60 pending, 34 springs have officially been recognized so far.

Best day trip! - We had an absolutely amazing time on our day trip to Delphi! Very relaxed. Our driver, Costas, was on time and a pleasure to chat with. He made sure we stopped for snacks and coffee before continuing on to our main attractions. Lunch afterwards at a wonderful restaurant, then back to Athens! If I make it to Athens again, I will seek him out for another trip! Thank you Costas for a wonderful time! ❤️

Worth the time - Sold as 8 hours but driver informed us it would be at least 10 hours. Still saw everything included in the package. Temps were comfortable when there was a breeze. Not too crowded except when tour groups went through.

Great day in Delphi - We returned to Athens after 2 years and last time September 2021 never made it to Delphi. We booked this tour and Costas made the day wonderful! A pleasant scenic drive, great information, comfortable vehicle and a great lunch with spectacular views. It was wonderful. We saw everything we wanted to with no pressure and back to Athens early enough to enjoy a last night dinner in The Plaka and last minute shopping.

Thermopylae and Delphi with Costas - Picked up at our hotel by Costas. An early start but so important to avoid rush hour. Then to Thermopylae. Costas was very engaging and knowledgeable. In fact, on the 2 hr drive there, we put the world to right. Then, onto the Delphi taking in some incredible mountain scenery. Any question on Greece, local communities was answered in full. The Delphi was superb, and we spent 75min there. If you need longer and you will, if you do it all incl museum, then ask Costas. Very obliging. Then lunch in Delphi village and it was incredible. Do not miss it, and please invite Costas to join you. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking. Then it's a long journey home to the hotel, but again we were talking most of the way. Not to be missed and very good day out.

Amazing experience - Delphi is a charming place to visit. The Archaeological site is jaw-dropping. The place is rich with history and artifacts. Costas, our guide, is kind, patient and knowledgeable. He recommended the best restaurant for lunch. He stopped to take pictures and souvenir shop. He went out of his way to accommodate us.

Tour of Delphi/Thermopylae - Enjoyed seeing the sights and the minimal explanations we got. The driver had a small car that really was not as comfortable as expected, based on previous tours in Greece. There was also a strong, unpleasant odor from the driver. Otherwise, it was fine!
