Wat Mahathat - 12:00: Wat Maha That, also known as the “Monastery of the Great Relic,” was the center of Buddhism in the Ayutthaya Kingdom until it was set on fire by the Burmese. A Buddha head entwined within the roots of a tree is one of the temple’s most iconic images. Wat Na Phra Men, or “The Monastery in Front of the Funeral Pyre,” houses the most important Buddha image, the crowned Buddha. This image, seated in the Subduing Mara posture, measures 6 meters high and 4.50 meters wide across the lap. Cast in metal and covered with gold leaf, the Buddha is adorned in royal attire, complete with a crown, earrings, necklace, and chest and arm ornaments. 14:30: Depart from Ayutthaya. 16:00: Arrive in Bangkok and transfer back to your hotel.
