Originally constructed in the mid-6th century during the Northern Qi dynasty, the Mutianyu Great Wall was rebuilt in 1569 and remains well-preserved to this day. This section of the Great Wall is known for its large scale and high quality.
Considered the most beautiful section, it connects with Jiankou in the west and Lianhuachi in the east. As one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, the Mutianyu section once served as the northern barrier protecting the capital and the imperial tombs. You can choose between a round-trip cable car ride to the wall or a chairlift ride up and a toboggan run down. Spend two to three hours exploring the wall independently.
