Discovering Tijuana’s Hidden Gems
As the sun rises over Tijuana on November 16th, the city awakens with a mysterious allure, inviting you to explore its vibrant culture and burgeoning craft beer scene. The day promises a mix of sun and clouds, with a high chance of rain in the afternoon, so pack an umbrella and prepare for an adventure that will take you through the heart of this dynamic city.
Start your day with a Street Food Adventure tour, available from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM. This journey through Tijuana’s bustling streets offers a taste of the city’s robust flavors and swift service. Imagine yourself as a local, rushing from one food cart to another, sampling everything from zingy fresh fruit to the iconic al pastor tacos. As you wander through markets and alleys, you’ll discover the true essence of Tijuana’s street food culture. One recent review from June 2024 captures the experience perfectly:
Wonderful!! - I want to thank Diego and Victor for everything on my recent food tour. Diego was very helpful in greeting me and getting me to the border crossing. Once across, Victor was an amazing tour guide. There were only two people on our tour, he asked us what we would like to do and where we would like to go. There was snake and scorpion tequila. We ate not only at restaurants but sampled cheese, two different tequila spots and a candy store. The markets were amazing. Victor accommodated us when we needed to stop at an atm, and gave us his perspective as a native. I enjoyed this tour so much more than expected. Make sure to bring pesos and lots of spending money for the markets because you will want to buy stuff!! Also, be prepared to wait a lot when returning to the US. (Reviewed at: 2024-06-03)
Craft Beer and Cultural Exploration
As the afternoon rolls in, the clouds may gather, but that won’t dampen your spirits. It’s the perfect time to dive into Tijuana’s craft beer scene with the Craft Beer Tour from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This tour takes you to six of the city’s most important local taprooms, where you’ll taste a variety of beers, each with a unique Tijuana twist. From IPAs to stouts, the city’s craft beer offerings are as diverse as its culture.
The tour also offers a surreal experience as you walk through Tijuana’s downtown, discovering cultural alleys and hidden taprooms in unexpected places. One review from August 2019 highlights the unforgettable nature of this tour:
Fun and informative. - Gilberto met me at the border and we walked across for our tour. We went to quite a few craft breweries and a couple of local cantinas as a fun detour. Small group all agreed. He was knowledgeable regarding the brews and the local scene. I really enjoyed it. (Reviewed at: 2019-08-15)
