Beautiful day spent. My best tour in Albania so far - I was on an unplanned solo tour as no one else booked. My guide Illir was on time for my pick up. Illir is well kept, the car was spotless, he is a good driver and I felt safe seeing how nervous a passenger that I am! Illir is fluent in English and very knowledgeable about the history of Berat fortress (castle) and was able to answer all my questions as we engaged in a historical discussion about the fortress, Berat itself and Albania as a whole. I didn't feel rushed as we toured the entire fortress and we spent a good amount of time in the town by the river . All the photos I have attached are a credit to Illir as he was my photographer for the day as well as being my guide. He was patient with me and very encouraging when my fear of heights got the better of me! I had an Impromptu wine tasting at Çoba family winery en-route to Tirana which I was grateful for that my guide let me do. Berat fortress (castle) has a rich history, the houses are beautiful, the views from upstairs are as beautiful as from downstairs! The drive there is straight forward and scenic! I highly recommend this tour! Thank you Illir.

Best day trip to Berat - We loved our guided trip from Tirana to Berat! Illr was our fabulous guide and took us by private car. Stopped for coffee on the way so 2 hour journey was not onerous. He is extremely knowledgeable about all the details of Berat castle and the churches and Byzantine mosques. He is college educated and has impeccable english. He answered so many questions about the complicated history and politics of Albania. Went to the ONUFRI iconographic museum and the church of dominion of St Mary and he had all the details of all the beautiful paintings. The most beautiful church we saw in Albania. There are 42 churches under the castle and 300 people still living inside the fortress walls. The view of the Osum river and bridges were awesome! Totally recommend Illr for your absolutely necessary day trip to Berat… don’t leave Albania without seeing it!!!

Great trip to Berat - A great day trip to Berat. Ilyia our guide was very good and has an encyclopedic knowledge of Albanian history ancient modern. He also varied our trip to include a visit to a local winery. Highly recommended.

An unforgettable trip - We had a day full of history, beautiful scenery and we learnt a lot about the culture and the people even to the present day. Our guide Eri made our trip memorable and we thank him for his consideration and attention. He was a fabulous guide and great communicator. We highly recommend him and this trip.

Beart - The Castle Town - it was really a great experience. first and foremost the guide made the trip and i mean how he "served" the trip was superb - the explanations, the guides, the accompaniment was really great. second, Berat itself is a beautiful place worth enjoying full day. really great experience.

Having a great tour guide made the day wonderful! - Our tour guide was fabulous and incredibly knowledgeable on history, politics, religion to give us a well-rounded and long-term perspective of the dynamics in the region. He also knew great photo spots and the right angles for the castle in Berat. We opted last minute due to the intense heat to change some of the day's activities and hit the sea and he was more than accommodating, as well as a courteous and safe driver.

Beautiful and charming. Nice half day trip. - If you go up the hill you will find an old fortress and small stone houses with narrow allies. One of these houses is a church preserved to perfection. The furniture and paintings are dated back to the 15-16 century. The fortress and the surrounding allies are small but full of charm.
