- Bunk’Art 1 - Bunk Art 1 is the most innovative and impressive museum in Tirana, situated within a massive communist-era bunker. From 1945 to 1992, Albania was under the rule of communist dictator Enver Hoxha, who, driven by paranoia and fear of a foreign nuclear attack, built 750,000 bunkers across the country. Although the anticipated attack never occurred and the communist regime ended in 1992, Albania still has thousands of unused bunkers. The extensive bunker housing Bunk Art 1 was originally designed to shelter the dictator and his government in the event of an attack. This five-story underground complex features over 100 rooms and numerous hallways, though it was never utilized. Today, the bunker has been transformed into a fascinating museum that delves into Albania’s history. Visitors can listen to Enver Hoxha’s phone conversations, watch old TV footage, learn about nuclear weapons, and see the dictator’s room, offering a unique glimpse into the dark years of communist rule in Albania. In short, Bunk Art 1 is Albania’s most remarkable museum, albeit with a slightly eerie atmosphere.
- Dajti Ekspres - The Dajti Express is an Austrian-built cable car located on the outskirts of Tirana. The journey begins at the lower station and takes approximately 15 minutes to reach the upper station, offering a breathtaking experience. As you glide over treetops and mountain cliffs, you can spot small farmhouses below. Approaching the top, you’ll be treated to a distant view of Tirana city and the Adriatic Sea on the horizon.
- Mount Dajti - The upper station of the Dajti Cable Car is situated 1,613 meters above sea level, providing an impressive view from the balcony. From here, you can see the entire city of Tirana, the Adriatic Sea, and the Port of Durres. Given Albania’s mountainous terrain, you’ll also observe various hills and valleys in the distance. At the cliff’s summit, the Balcony Restaurant, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, offers an ideal lunch spot (at your own expense). You can also visit the viewing terrace atop the Dajti Tower Hotel or enjoy the rotating bar. The upper station features a range of outdoor activities, including a shooting range, mini golf, an outdoor fitness area, horse riding, playgrounds, and a children’s adventure park. The Dajti Mini Golf and Adventure Park boasts a high ropes course and zip-lining facilities, though these are optional and not included in the fees.
