Our half-day walking tour begins in the heart of the city’s Monumental Center. Here, we’ll see the stark contrasts between the imposing communist-era buildings like the Palace of Culture and the National History Museum, and the 1920s Italian government buildings designed by architect Armando Brasini.
Passing by the statue of Albania’s national hero, Skenderbeg, we’ll make our way to the Et’hem Bey Mosque and the Watch Tower, which reflect Tirana’s growth in the 17th and 19th centuries and its tumultuous 20th-century history.
We’ll also stroll by the newly reopened Toptani Castle and the stone Tanner’s Bridge, make a brief stop at the Pyramid, and visit the Blloku area, including the villa of dictator Enver Hoxha.
