These unique birds create an intense chorus with their feeding habits, giving the main Bundala lagoon a magnificent pinkish hue which is a truly breathtaking spectacle. The park features 05 saltwater lagoons, with Bundala standing as the most famous. A nearby water tank named ‘Kokara’ is the optimal spot for observing elephants, often seen playing at twilight. However, users must exercise caution, as the park’s elephants are slightly more assertive due to previous human-elephant conflicts. The area also serves as a habitat for various plant species, mammals, reptiles, and butterflies.
