- Tivoli Villa D’este And Hadrian’s Villa - An expert English speaking tour guide will lead to explore Hadrian Villa , the splendid and scenography villa of the emperor Hadrian. The emperor Hadrian was a personality of great intellect, a philosopher , architect and poet, but what he most loved was travelling to Athens and the oriental cities of the vast empire. Consequently he built the architectonic complexes of the villa on the model of the buildings that had struck him most: the Lyceum, the Academy, the Stoà Poekile , the Pritaneus the Canopus on the Nile delta and the Temple Valley in Thessaly. We will then visit the splendid Villa Gregoriana at Tivoli.

Constructed by the emperor Hadrian, Hadrian Villa is a remarkable, one-of-a-kind estate situated at the base of the Tivoli hills in 117 B.C. However, referring to it as a ‘villa’ isn’t entirely accurate, since it was more like a full-fledged city spreading over a lush expanse of about 300 hectares.
Emperor Hadrian was a man of immense intellect, holding titles as a philosopher, architect, and poet. But above all, he was an ardent traveler, particularly drawn to Athens and the eastern cities of his expansive empire.
As a result, he designed the architectural structures of the villa to reflect those buildings that left a profound impact on him, including the Lyceum, the Academy, the Stoà Poekile, the Pritaneus, the Canopus on the Nile delta, and the Valley Temple in Thessaly.
Our guided walking tour will take you through the architectural marvels of Hadrian Villa, delving into the intriguing narrative of Hadrian’s life. Explored through the ‘alterative path’ of his biography, we unveil the captivating aspects of a romantic, adventurous life led by one of history’s most forward-thinking men. The tour concludes with a visit to the stunning Villa Gregoriana, located on the acropolis of Tivoli.
