ITINERARY FOR THE WEEKEND OF FEBRUARY 22 - FEBRUARY 23, 2025

Tivoli’s February Festivities: A Carnival of History and Flavor

Experience the vibrant Carnival spirit in Tivoli this February, where historical grandeur meets festive exuberance. With a mix of sun, clouds, and a touch of rain, it’s the perfect setting for wine tasting and exploring Roman ruins.

Embracing the Carnival Spirit in Tivoli

As February unfolds, Tivoli, a charming town nestled in the Lazio region of Italy, becomes a vibrant tapestry of history and festivity. The air is filled with anticipation as the Carnival spirit takes over, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in a celebration that marries the grandeur of the past with the exuberance of the present. The weather, with its partly cloudy skies and a hint of rain, adds a touch of drama to the landscape, making it an ideal backdrop for exploration.

Begin your journey with a Tivoli Wine Tasting experience, available from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This exquisite adventure takes you to a family-owned winery just outside Rome, where the art of winemaking has been perfected over centuries. As you savor the rich flavors of local wines, the serene ambiance of the vineyard envelops you, offering a moment of tranquility amidst the Carnival excitement. The journey continues to the splendid Villa d’Este, where the gardens and fountains whisper tales of a bygone era. The mild temperatures and the possibility of rain make this a perfect day to indulge in the warmth of a light jacket and the comfort of a glass of wine.

A Journey Through Time and Taste

The following day, the weather remains a delightful mix of sun and clouds, with a significant chance of rain in the afternoon. This sets the stage for a Countryside Tour from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, where the allure of Roman ruins and the elegance of fountains await. The tour begins at Villa Adriana, where the grandeur of an ancient Roman emperor’s villa comes to life. As you wander through the excavations, the whispers of history echo in the air, inviting you to imagine the opulence of the past.

The journey then leads to the old village of Tivoli, where the main entrance to Villa d’Este beckons. Here, the beauty of the fountains and gardens captivates the senses, offering a feast for the eyes and the soul. As the day unfolds, the possibility of rain adds a layer of romance to the experience, making it a day to remember. A review from September 2024 captures the essence of this tour:

Intriguing sites & a great tour - Maurizio gave us a fabulous tour, so glad he was able to get us through AM Rome streets quickly n safely. He was very knowledgeable about the ruins of Hadrians palace and Tivoli how to best see them. We were already signed up for an Insight Tour & wanted to see sights that Insight missed. This tour exactly fit our expectations. We definitely highly recommend this tour & Muarizio as the guide!! (Reviewed at: 2024-09-17)
