- Villa d’Este - Villa d’Este (Skip-The-Line Tickets Included), a masterpiece of the Italian Garden, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Known for its remarkable array of fountains, nymphs, grottoes, water features, and music, it has served as a model for European gardens in the mannerist and baroque styles. Stroll through the Villa with your private local guide (if the guide option is booked), explore the gardens, and take photos in front of Bernini-designed fountains while learning about the Cardinal and his opulent lifestyle in the Villa. Villa d’Este is renowned more for its gardens than the building itself. This iconic Italian-style garden, often imitated, is filled with the sounds of numerous fountains that inspired the Romantic composer Franz Liszt to create a piano suite called “Fountains of the Villa d’Este.”
- Tivoli - The walk takes you through the old medieval center, overlooked by turret-houses, leading to the impressive Temples of Acopoli, situated on a rock offering a stunning view of Villa Gregoriana Gardens.
- Tempio della Sibilla - For lunch (at your own expense), we highly recommend a remarkable location steeped in history. Notable figures such as King Frederick William III of Prussia, Prince Jerome Napoleon, Gabriele D’Annunzio, and Pietro Mascagni have dined here. In more recent times, Secretaries of State and Vice-Presidents of the USA, Emperor Hirohito of Japan, Princess Margaret of England, singer Yoko Ono, and astronaut Neil Armstrong have also chosen this restaurant.
- Villa Adriana - Hadrian’s Villa at Tivoli (Skip-The-Line Tickets Included) is another Italian UNESCO World Heritage Site. Commissioned by Emperor Hadrian, the Villa is a monumental complex that still showcases the grandeur and immense power of Ancient Rome. The magnificent Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana), once the holiday retreat of Emperor Hadrian, was constructed in the 2nd century AD. It resembles a small village more than a modern-day home. Hadrian’s Villa comprised over 30 buildings, spanning at least 1 square kilometer (approximately 250 acres), much of which remains unexcavated. The Villa was the most significant Roman example of an Alexandrian garden, recreating a sacred landscape. The complex included palaces, several baths, theaters, temples, libraries, staterooms, and quarters for courtiers, praetorians, and slaves.
