What does Petroglyphs (or Petroglifos in Spanish) mean? These are etchings on rocks caused by friction with various implements resulting in a range of shapes such as Zoomorphic, Anthropomorphic, Geometric, and phytomorphic. They are remnants of various cultures that have existed across the region for ages.
Támesis possesses the largest outdoor museum in Colombia, containing over 150 rocks displaying single or multiple petroglyphs.
The tour is led by a local and accredited tourist guide, commencing at the cultural house with a visit to the Cartama Museum. This museum houses a collection of archaeological artifacts from several regional cultures.
The museum tour lasts for half an hour.
The journey then continues by private transportation to the first site, showcasing the initial two petroglyphs. Following this, the tour proceeds to three other locations featuring multiple rocks with intricate petroglyphs and lasts for a total of 3 hours.
