Guided Hebridean Farm Hike

Explore the Isle of Mull’s rugged beauty on a guided farm hike. Meet Highland ponies, Shetland sheep, and experience Scottish Hebridean farming life.

Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
  • Tobermory - We’re on a hill farm, so unsurprisingly, there aren’t any listed ‘tourist’ sites on our guided walks (hence why I had to select Tobermory as the attraction). The walk starts at the entrance to The Fauld Farm just outside Tobermory then we head up on to Meadow Ridge (so called because it’s covered in a carpet of wild flowers in spring…

A Wonderful Hike and Farm Visit - Although the weather wasn’t brilliant on the day of our hike, my husband and I had a wonderful walk with Karen. Her farm is beautiful and we really enjoyed the scenery, the chat, the exercise and getting to meet Karen and her husband, as well as some of their sheep and horses. When I first contacted Karen before our trip she provided loads of tips about travelling to Mull and what to see and asked about our fitness levels and interests so she could tailor to the walk to our needs. She is very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and history of the area and the view from the top of the hill over the loch and islands was spectacular. Our Hebridean Farm Hike was one of the highlights of our three weeks in Scotland. Thanks again, Karen. It was lovely to meet you.

Unspoilt Scotland - We were tempted to cancel as it started to rain but decided to forge ahead as Karen was so enthusiastic. I am so glad we did as the walk was fantastic, breathtakingly wild, rugged and beautiful and Karen was a wonderful guide. We were there in the middle of spring lambing so there were lots of little lambs everywhere. The Shetland and highland ponies in the wild are a real treat to see. The weather ended up being perfect!!! Glenys

Tailored visit with beautiful scenery. Strongly recommend ! - Karen tailored the visit to my wishes: scenery, ponies and sheep. The views are simply amazing! On top of one of the hills, we get a 360 degrees view: meadows, hills, mountains, sea and sky. I was lucky to be there on a sunny January day with only a thin cover of snow. I did not hike, but if I ever come back I sure will book one as to visit a bit farther. Seeing the topography from my vantage point, I think that hikes can be smooth to challenging. Karen talked about the history of the place, along with a bit of geography, which was interesting as well as enlightening. And to top it tall, Karen's warm welcome made for a very nice visit.

Worth a visit - A small group of us headed into the hill with Karen for the trip. The views were stunning. Karen filled us in on what we could see in the distance along with some history of the island. Towards the end of the loop we met the horses and sheep. Again Karen took the time to introduce the four legged friends and gave us an insight into the breeds history. Karen ensure that we were not going too fast and constantly checked in on us. It was lovely to not worry about getting lost, no map or compass required! Well worth a visit.
