Burana Tower - The Burana historical complex is a popular destination, with the Burana Tower located 80 km (50 miles) from Bishkek, standing as one of Kyrgyzstan’s most renowned archaeological sites. This site also features a museum showcasing significant archaeological artifacts that narrate the history of the Silk Road and Kyrgyzstan’s role in it. The Burana Tower is the sole remnant of the city of Balasagyn, which served as the capital of the Karakhanid Empire in the 9th century. Surrounding the tower are several excavation sites revealing brick foundations of buildings, although archaeologists have determined that the town extended much further.
Chon-Kemin National Park - Situated approximately 150 km (93 miles) east of Bishkek, the Chon-Kemin National Park spans over 500 hectares (1,234 acres) and ranges in altitude from 1,400 m (4,593 ft) to 2,800 m (9,186 ft).
The park boasts some of the most stunning landscapes in Kyrgyzstan, featuring a vast river, lakes, glaciers, and an expansive forest. It is a haven for nature enthusiasts seeking a peaceful retreat, as well as for adventure seekers interested in trekking or rafting.
Karakol - Karakol is a key tourist city in Kyrgyzstan, located on the eastern side of the country, opposite Issyk-Kul Lake. It is renowned for its gorges, particularly the Altyn-Arashan hot springs gorge, a picturesque valley adorned with pine trees, rivers, wildflowers, and natural hot springs. During a city tour, visitors can explore the Dungan Mosque and the Russian Orthodox Church.
Dungan Mosque - In the 1800s, a group of Chinese Muslims, known as Dungans, fled political turmoil in China and settled in Karakol. Their arrival enriched the Karakol community with Chinese cultural and architectural influences.
In 1904, a Dungan man named Ibrahim Aji commissioned the construction of a mosque, which was later named after the Dungan ethnic group. Ibrahim Aji enlisted Chou Seu, a Beijing-based architect, and twenty master carvers to construct a mosque adhering to two main principles: it had to follow Chinese architectural traditions and be built without nails.
Karakol Gorge - Today, enjoy a leisurely day in the Karakol area, beginning with a visit to the Karakol ski resort and valley. Here, visitors can take a ski pass to ascend to the mountain peaks at 3,040 meters high, relish the views, and ski with an instructor if needed. Later, transfer to the city for rest, a 30 km drive.
Jeti-Oguz Canyon (Seven Bulls Rocks) - Jeti Oguz is a sandstone formation located about 25 km (15 miles) southwest of Karakol. The name “seven bulls” is derived from the rocks’ resemblance to seven bulls. Jeti-Oguz Rocks are a protected Nature Monument.
