Additional Information
Incredible scenic native bushes combined with thrilling canyoning adventures are right here in Tokyo. A short train ride from the city center takes you to the lush green hinterland of Tokyo’s Okutama region. Navigate through moss-covered ancient canyons using various techniques such as jumps, slides, and rappelling down waterfalls over 80 feet (25 meters) high!
- A maximum of 13 people per booking
- Consumption of alcohol before the tour is prohibited and anyone under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted on the tour and will be charged full cancellation charges
- Minimum age is 13 years
- Minimum number of participants required for tour departure is two. Canyons reserves the right to cancel any tour where the minimum number of participants is not reached.
- Moderate fitness is recommended
- Okutama is located within the western part of Tokyo prefecture outside of the hustle and bustle of central Tokyo, is surrounded by lush nature and can be accessed by car or using local train departing from Tokyo or Shinjuku stations
- Reconfirmation required (see instructions on voucher)
- The only required items to bring on the tour are your swimwear and towel

Enjoy the great outdoors just outside the city center! - It was my first time canyoning, but I really enjoyed the friendly explanations from our Guides Kou and Eri and the brightness of their smiles throughout. A river ride in a valley surrounded by mossy rocks… I was so impressed to see such luxury in a day trip from the city center. It's full of adventure and really recommended!

Great escape to the nature :) - We had a great time in the Big Mononoke Canyons, with some amazing natural sights. It was a great experience overall, with plenty of rock jumps, sliders and ziplining. The water temperature was perfect for cooling down, too.
I'd highly recommend anyone who loves nature to go canyoning with Canyons. Their guides are also really nice and helpful.

Extremely fun and unique experience! - Super super fun experience! Fully guided canyoneering trip in the Japanese countryside with full safety equipment, good company, and amazing tour guides. They spoke fluent English and were extremely detailed and helpful. Always felt safe and had fun like never before - jumping off a cliff into a natural waterfall is an experience like none other.

Canyoning in Tokyo! - The activity started with a briefing which was simple and had no fuss. The equipment (clothing and gear) made me feel really cushioned and safe. The 2 guides with us Ko and Asok made sure I was not left behind (since i lagged in the hike). If i had a magic wand, i would wish to be transported to the top of the mountain and not have to hike the inclines but i survived that and totally enjoyed the rappeling, sliding, swimming and ziplining back to the bottom of the mountain!

Excellent Tokyo day trip - Excellent experience. Easily accessible from Tokyo but a world away from the big city. Great instructors, adequately challenging, incredible location. Great for anyone wanting to not just go to bars in Roppongi.

Canyoning Rocks - i am a 53, non-athletic and had a great time Canyoning with Canyons- The activities were fun and challenging but the guides made sure we all made it! I would recommend this for anyone adventurous enough to want to try it!

Canyoning is for everyone - This was a spectacular adventure with some top notch guides. I am 61 yers old and 100 kg but was still able to confidently complete the course. They had wetsuits and special shoes in my size - I have very wide feet. The guides were strong dudes and very calm so I didn’t worry the slightest bit about what we were doing. The scenery in the area is also spectacular. Get off at Kawai station and walk to Canyons for a great start to your day.

For those who seek adventure and an exciting challenge to step up their game beyond the usual hiking! - Amazing experience, great value for money!
It was even better than I expected, the feeling of adventure and thrill was really refreshing!
Totally worth taking a day off from busy Tokyo life to soak in nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Okutama Valley!
We trekked up the mountain and then waded through streams and started canyoning, climbing down very steep cliffs and then jumping into the water, ziplining etc. All this under the attentive and cheerful care of our two guides, Tomoki and Luke (who both speak English, so great for non Japanese speakers too!).
Definitely would recommend!!
