Nikko, Japan - The tour was excellent, we have seen the beautifull landscape of Japan. The Nikko Toshogu shrine is very uplifting and the Kegon Waterfall with the lake is fascinating. Our guide, Hammad was helpful.

Fun filled family day to Nikko - Shan arrived ahead of time at the hotel, warmly greeted us and briefly explained our trip. Throughout the day , he was alert, took us to all attractions and drove us back safely. We always felt safe and secure. As a family, we enjoyed every attraction and spent adequate time feeling the past glory. A very memorable trip.

A drive to Nikko, not a tour of Nikko - Review Pros: proficient driving, tour provides good stops around Nikko Cons: significant language barrier, cigarette smell in car, driver lacked local knowledge If you want a ride to Nikko, this is for you. If you want a guide, this is not it. Our guide was not informed of the pickup time decided with Azhar (7:00am) and arrived an hour and forty-five minutes later than agreed, at 8:45. He did not introduce himself to us, barely spoke to us, could not answer questions, and primarily listened to music on his earbuds. I asked him if he’d been to Tokyo Disney, and he said yes and then abruptly started using talk to text on his cell phone. I wanted to try yuba, a Nikko tofu delicacy, and he didn’t know what it was or tried to help me find a stop. He almost bought us the wrong tickets at the kiosk for the shrine, which would have been much more expensive. The pickup time was not his fault, but the rest of the day was unpleasant when we were in his company.

Bad experience with Viator. - The most memorable part was the guide provided by Viator was not a licensed guide. He didn’t go with us to the attractions. He only took us there to tour by ourselves. We were not told or being explained the significance of the the place. We’d be better off just take a train or bus to go there by ourselves. We’ll never use Viator again.

Not a Reputable Tour Company - The sites visited would have been very nice if it wasn't for the rain - which can't be helped. Our issue was with the tour company. The tour was booked 8 months in advance with pick up and drop off details supplied with the booking. I heard nothing from the tour company so presumed all was well. The day before the tour I received a message asking for pick up and drop off details again I supplied them. I received a message back requesting an extra $400 for the extra fuel and toll charges. This was very stressful, as no time left to make other arrangements or to get confirmation of a full refund. Agreed to pay the extra, a link was sent to pay in US $ which again I queried as I paid in Aus $, a new link was sent for the extra charge of $400Aus. Which really makes you think. We also didn't realise how far Nikko was from the cruise port - 7 hrs driving and less than an hour sightseeing!!! Why wasn't I informed at time of booking that this tour wasn't practical and offered an alternative. The vehicle sent was serviceable but had been damaged. The "guide" didn't come with us or explain the sites. Obviously just contracted to do the tour at the last minute.

Disgusting tour vehicle - Very disappointed with the tour today to Nikko from Tokyo. We paid over $837 for a 13-passenger LUXURY vehicle for the day-long trip negligently advertised on TripAdvisor. The vehicle was not a luxury vehicle, and was filthy dirty. The driver had no obvious tour guide experience; never discussed anything of historical or touristic significance, and could barely be understood in English. However, Hasan was a very pleasant person and nice. Unfortunately, he drove way too fast on the mountainous curves and switchbacks all the way to Kegon Falls; 2 of the 7 passengers became very sick, one vomiting in a trash bag in the car with no with no assistance from the driver after many requests to pull over.  Also, the vehicle was advertised for 13 passengers; the seven of us barely fit in the vehicle. The old van had bever been cleaned: reeked of b.o. and garbage, trash everywhere, torn curtains, busted cup holders, exposed ceiling wiring, and caked dirt everywhere. We took over 20 photos of the condition of the vehicle and asked Nihon Horizon Tours (Ezar) for some relief compensation and were totally ignored. Horrible experience. Never again. Be warned!!
