El Tondoroque, Bahía de Banderas Nayarit, 15 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, just 5 from Nuevo Vallarta or Bucerias.
Visitors will know about the history of cacao and chocolate in the world, the tree and its cultural uses, ethnohistorical data of the cacao in the Bay of Banderas (cultivated in Nayarit for more than a thousand years) nutritional benefits of this superfood and the artisan chocolate workshop, which illustrates the process from the cultivation, harvesting, fermentation, drying and grinding of this precious seed.
There is an exhibition area of
old utensils, drinks prepared with cocoa, a traditional mud kitchen and a chocolate store with products homemade.
We offer different activities, in this case, our chocolate workshop with 2 hours of creativity where you will taste cacao drinks and learn how to make handcraft chocolate! Our kitchen is waiting for you.

Well worth your time! - This was a tour well worth the trip! It isn't hard to access from Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo Nayarit. It was a delight to see a local initiative to bring some ancestorial food and practices to light for those visiting the region. Our group ranged from ages 16 to 72 and all enjoyed different aspects of it. The information was fabulous, and our guide, Aldo, was very personable and knowledgeable. It was great to see the full process of cacao growing and harvesting, and we all loved being able to make our own chocolate treats at the end.

Chocolate emersion ♥️ - We learned all about the history of growing Cocao and making chocolate. Our guide, Rosa, was very kind and knowledgeable! We cooked and ground our own chocolate and then made delicious truffles. We also sampled traditional Cocao beverages with cookies. A wonderful adventure!!!

Fun chocolate tour - This chocolate tour was a great experience where we learned the history, and process of making chocolate. We were able to roast, peel and grind the beans to make our own chocolate. Our tour guide Rosario was very informative and made this a very fun one of a kind experience!

Fabulous Cocoa - This experience was fun, educational, and tasty. We began our day getting to the quiet location, where we started out with the interesting history how chocolate traveled across the world, then we cracked open a cocoa pod and began making chocolate. It was an amazing experience!

What a wonderful and... - What a wonderful and informative tour. We opted for the longer tour. Our guide gave a thorough and informative history of how chocolate came to be such a delicious dessert. We saw from start to finish how to make chocolate and even roasted the cocoa beans, ground them, added sugar and were able to shape, decorate and eat the chocolate we made.

If you’re a chocolate lover or just curious about the fascinating journey from cacao pod to chocolate bar, Planeta Cacao is an absolute must-visit! This immersive tour dives into the rich history of chocolate, teaching you how it originated and evolved into the treat we all adore today.
One of the highlights of the tour was the hands-on experience of making our own chocolate straight from the pod. There’s something incredibly satisfying about crafting your own treat from scratch, and the process was both educational and fun. Of course, the grand finale was tasting their delicious house-made chocolate – every bite was pure bliss!
A huge shoutout to Adrian, our fantastic tour guide, who brought the experience to life with his knowledge, humor, and passion for cacao. His storytelling and guidance made the tour truly memorable.
Whether you’re a foodie, a history buff, or simply looking for a unique activity, Planeta Cacao will not disappoint. Highly recommended!

Chocolate HEAVEN!!!the highlight of our trip to puerto Vallarta. Highly recommend. Would visit again and again. - Millie was amazing tour guide! A heaven for chocoholic. A private tour for two. We spent over 2 hours there. Such an educational interactive fun tour. The highlight of our trip to puerto Vallarta.
From cacao flower all the way to making chocolate candy. All the steps.
If you call them directly the workshop ticket is $30 ( us$5 less then thru this website)
They have Wi-Fi. We got here with Uber and returned with Uber no problem whatsoever.
