Additional Information

Take a break from the bustle of Toronto and head into nature for a day. Visit Canada’s oldest provincial park on a guided excursion. Get picked up from the meeting point and drive to Algonquin. Spend an enriching 6 hours at the park snowshoeing, hiking, spotting wildlife, canoeing, and swimming (depending on the time of the year, joining the tour).

Spring - Moose watching and wildlife spotting time. We will hike Mizzy Lake Trail or similar trail (10 km, good for beginners and intermediate hikers).

Summer/Fall - You can choose between hiking tour only or hiking and canoeing. On our hiking tour only, we will hike around 10 km/day and on our hiking and canoeing tour, we will hike 3 km, canoe for 1,5 hours, swim and relax on the beach.

Winter - Strap on a pair of snowshoes and venture into the wilderness, leaving footprints in the untouched snow. Snowshoes are included.

While there are many trails to choose from, we will pick one that offers the best lookout points.

“Great Fun” - My twenty year old nephews said it was a lot of fun. They liked the people on the mini- van. They said the guide was”calm”.

Great day out - We were picked up on time and went on three walks each a couple of km. There were some steep and uneven parts but we took it slow and kept everyone together. Our guide Mike had fantastic knowledge of the area and gave us options on the walks to take. Although we missed out on seeing a moose and had some rain, it was still a very enjoyable trip with some amazing views.

Great place for nature photography - I wanted it because I like nature photos. The place is spectacular. You pass through lakes, rivers of different sizes, different types of forest and wetland areas. The price reflects the distance of this wonderful place, and yes, you spend part of the day on the road, but if you have already taken a trip from anywhere in the world to Toronto, it is just going a little further for a memorable day . Joe was our guide, he has a good eye for finding wildlife in the area and is someone who encourages and helps anyone who struggles a little with the trails we visited.

Amazing day - It was a pleasure to participate in this daytrip! We saw many great places, canoed, walked two trails (waterfall and lookout point), swam in a lake, drove to the visitor's center and all of this with a very nice group of people. Our guide Mike was super friendly and did his best to make us enjoy the day and see the beauty of Algonquin Provincal Park. Highly recommended trip!

A very long-duration day tour - We didn’t expect that the tour would last for the whole day that supper had to be taken before the tour returning to town (and it was not stated in the itinerary neither). We had to leave the tour by ourselves at 8 pm, at the place where the tour bus stopped for supper, such that we could go to our dinner appointment.

Too expensive for too little. - Algonquin is beautiful in itself but I feel like the trip is a little misbranded. The ‘hikes’ are short 2km walks and in between there is a long hours break for lunch which you have to provide yourself before a small amount of time on the water in a canoe and a swim off an ‘island’ which is merely just a rock in the middle of the water. My guide wasn’t particular enthusiastic and it felt like it was just a side job for him to concentrate on his main hustle in life. The journey time in comparison to what you get to do isn’t good so I wouldn’t recommend, especially for the price. This is an expensive trip and looking back at the ones I did in Jacque Cartier in Quebec and Mt Tremblant in Montreal for a quarter of the price, I now feel like this is a bit of a rip off.

Ups and downs - The places we were taken too were excellent, hiking and canoeing. Our guide, Joe, was so good. He did an excellent job. However, we felt that there was not enough correct information provided before the day (lunch arrangements and no mention of swimming). Also, for such a long day we spent a lot of time in the van. It would have been a better day if had been able to get out more and walk more. Finally, for safety reasons, two guides would have been a lot better. Joe had to do a lot of driving over the day. Not great for him or us.

They cancel at 1 a.m. on the day, terrible communication + I lose €xx after reimbursement - Good morning, I had a reservation for an excursion with Traveling Chicken in January 2024. 1 day and a half before the activity, no confirmation from them, no message. They don't respond ANYWHERE. I start calling from France (at extra cost) checking that it corresponds to their office opening hours. No one answers my multiple calls. I notice that they are still posting on Instagram in a story that there are places for the exact activity that I booked. So I try to DM them on their page. They put me in “seen” and ignore me. When I go to the airport later, I am finally told via Insta that they are sorry for the delay and confirm (obviously, I had assumed that they were active.) I arrive in Canada, and with the time difference, take advantage of a first day before the big day. This same person (Lenka) emails me at 1am that the tour is canceled because the guide is not feeling well 🤡 I see the email at 5am. Knowing that the meeting point is early in the morning, tell yourself that a normal person goes to bed early, and sending an email in the middle of the night is probably missed by most. No solution offered, so they had no other guide to replace it? Knowing that they were still posting numerous stories until a few hours before the activity, it is a safe bet that they simply did not gather enough participants to be profitable. I came to check the available places on their official website, and as luck would have it, there were still a lot of tickets left! This would explain why no one confirmed anything to me before I came and asked them 24 hours before (when you book, they tell you that an information email will be sent 48 hours before the activity, but that does not has not been done) Then frankly, notifying at 1 a.m. on the big day, it mostly looks like an email programmed to be sent automatically from your inbox before going to sleep with peace of mind. Forced to harass Lenka (the only person who manages reservation + mailbox + Instagram + after-sales service, we underhire with the result of a poor relationship with the consumer) for a refund, which she validates for me. The amount in dollars converted into euros was returned to me, with the exchange rate falling to lose around ten euros (because we are starting out on an activity at $184 so the amount lost is proportionally high) and of course, I also lose the few euros in bank charges for payment in foreign currency. In short, you book to be canceled at 1 a.m. knowing that you will have to prepare since the day before (possibly losing an evening that you could have organized elsewhere because time is limited when traveling, remember), someone will will respond with delay if you really bother and then the refund causes you to lose xx€ for free, with headaches and a whole day to reorganize because said excursion was supposed to take up a day of your diary. It is rather strong in Chopapics that an activity at $184 offers such a service without any solution! 🤡 Save yourself the hassle and book something else.
