We’ll venture south along the shoreline of Trani, until we reach the Cliff Pathway. On this rugged coast, marked by tall, unbroken cliffs peering over the ocean, distant from urban areas, we’ll have the chance to behold the vibrantly hued bee-eater and hear its distinctive ‘crane-crane’ call. This avian migrant, boasting a wingspan of approximately half a meter, returns from wintering in tropical Africa to nest in our locale on sandy cliff-faces at the conclusion of spring. Upon reaching a cool pine woodland by the sea, enchanting wild orchids will emerge. These beguiling blooms, with their peculiar colors and shapes, consistently draw interest from both bug and nature photography enthusiasts. Our journey concludes at Olivieri Tower - a coastal watchtower positioned within Lama Paterna; a weathering trench unique to Apulian topography that guides rainfall from the Murge karst plateau towards the Adriatic Sea.
