The Historical Ghost Lantern Tour starts in the heart of downtown Traverse City & explores the hauntings occurring on Front Street before heading south to 6th ST to share the ghostly tales of the Perry Hannah House and Carnegie Library. The tour will come to a climactic conclusion with a ghost-hunting experience at Traverse City’s first official cemetery with actual ghost-hunting equipment where we conclude at the Perry Hannah Circle statue on the corner of Union and 6th street.
Your adventure begins at 313 E Front Street, Traverse City. Please meet your tour guide, holding a lantern, OUTSIDE the Higher Self Bookstore.
Parking can be a challenge. Please allow yourself an extra 30 minutes to park & use the restroom before your tour begins. The Hardy Parking Garage is located on Front Street very close to where your tour meets.
This tour always starts on time. Please call if running late.

Fantastic tour that made our trip!! - This tour was super fun and really pulled the whole trip together. It's basically a tour of the city with a very well qualified local historian, who happens to also be really into ghosts. Our tour guide Des has done her research and is a multi-generational local, and knows everything about the historical underpinnings of various macabre events said to have produced many ghost sightings. I also learned why those old theaters used to burn down so often! She was a terrific storyteller and spent time with every person on the tour. My 6-year old daughter joined us as well and had a great time, with no nightmares afterward. Des was very good with kids and kept her interested the entire time. By the way, the architecture in Traverse City is incredible. And some of these spots were very creepy after dark. I have to say, I remember the tour vividly even several weeks later. I'm still pretty creeped out. Great restaurants in that part of town as well so this was perfect after dinner.

Interesting Tour - This was such a fun and interesting tour. Des is a great story teller and gears the tour towards things you are interested in learning about! Our tour had a family with teens and us (an elderly couple). The walk was nice - not too long or short. But the stories of all the people were excellent! Thank you for a great time!

Highly recommend!! - We had a fantastic time on our ghost tour! Des is so personable and her story telling is captivating and informative. This was our first ghost tour experience and we are hooked! We left talking about how we couldn’t wait to book again! Highly recommend!

Fun tour with a great host - Des was a great host for this trip! Tons of energy, tons of jokes, and a personal history with the city, which added a lot to the experience. Definitely take the tour if you're in the area

One of the best experiences in Traverse City - I don’t even know where to start when it comes to how much I loved this tour. Not only was it educational, but it was FUN. We talked about several different locations— in a historical and/or paranormal sense. We walked a very manageable distance through main street, the park, and the surrounding area. Our tour guide, Des, was personable, emotionally intuitive, and intelligent. When sensitive topics came up, she made sure no one was uncomfortable before speaking. She made sure to wait until all group members were together before continuing on. If someone seemed downtrodden or otherwise, she was there to lift them up without prying or drawing attention to their plight. (She was also very hilarious, and I loved all of the jokes I understood!) The only complaint I have is that I can’t give this experience 10 stars. I wouldn’t want to spend my evening any other way. This is definitely a must for anyone visiting TC.

Great experience! - Loved the tour! It was a great combination of history and paranormal... I highly recommend! Dez was an awesome guide and very passionate which made the tour even more enjoyable.

Enjoyed - So much fun! Cool stories and history from someone who’s family has been here for generations. Neat walk around town, I won’t look at several buildings the same!

Fun ending to the night. - Dez was a great guide, very charismatic and knowledgeable. Her stories were well crafted and the humor fun, exactly the kind of thing you want from this sort of tour. Would absolutely recommend.

Jolly tour re-ignites imaginations - Our spirited guide Des was raised and lives in the Traverse City area. Her local connections provide her with unique information sources that she uses to give historic tale-telling some extra flair.
Des’s voice carries well and her lively presentation reflects her genuine interest in the stories that she tells. Although I sometimes lagged behind in my wheelchair, Des kindly waited for me to catch up and made me feel that I was a welcome part of the tour group,
And about those spirits? Who knows? Maybe they like to keep us guessing!

Pay attention to time as they change it without letting you know - It was supposed to start at 8:30 per my original booking and was changed to 8 pm without telling me. Therefore we did not get to do it and I lost my money. Thanks for nothing.
