Bowers Harbor Vineyards stablished in 1991 is one of the original wineries in the area. Initially a horse farm, the estate now boasts 20 acres of vinifera vines. An inviting tasting room is a former horse stable, and a friendly staff will welcome and introduce our tour guests to an extensive selections of top wines by the glass, bottle or by the flight.

Bowers Harbor Vineyards is nicknamed the “dog winery” and guests might see various dogs at the winery.

Bowers Harbor grows Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The real show stopper is the Pinot Secco (bubbly Pinot Grigio) and a Pinot Secco Rose (Magic Mike’s pick).

Guests can order wine flights and head to the patio, fire pit, pavilion, and tables tucked alongside the vines on the property.

  • Grand Traverse Bay - Grand Traverse Bay is an arm of Lake Michigan. The bay is separated from the rest of Lake Michigan by the Leelanau Peninsula. The bay is some 32 miles long, ranges from 7 to 10 miles wide, and up to 620 feet deep in spots. It is the second-largest bay of Lake Michigan, behind Green Bay.

Grand Traverse Bay earned its name from 18th-century French voyageurs who made “la grande traverse” or a long trek or crossing, across the mouth of bay.

The most famous feature of the Grand Traverse Bay is the division into East and West arms by the Old Mission Peninsula.

During this tour, on the way from Traverse City to Hawthorne Vineyards, our tour guests will see stunning views of the East Bay. Tour guests will be driven right along the shoreline at times. On the drive from Hawthorne to Bowers guests will see views of the West Bay. Tour guests will see views of both East and West Bays during the rest of the tour as well. A very large part of this award winning tour are the views!

Best wine tour company in TC! - I have been on three TC wine tours and this was by far the best one. I will definitely be booking Movie Star Wine Tours again. Mike and Kyle were incredibly professional, helpful, and informative about the wines. They had great recommendations for each place we went to. They were also members at each place and knew the owners and staff thus we were able to get seated quickly and not have to wait in any long lines. We enjoyed the luxurious experience of the 2024 Yukon cars, as well.

The BEST way to tour the wineries! - Just the best! Our guide Andie arrived a bit early to get us out there ahead of the buses and was so friendly and helpful throughout! This company does such an amazing tour, we really liked the SUV vs crowded bus concept of this tour company, it a very personal tour style. We had fun meeting up with other SUVs from the tour company and Mike made sure to greet and spend time with everyone, answering questions and providing lots of interesting information. We visited 4 wineries and had fun and great wine at them all. Totally recommend this company!

Relaxing and Well Organized - Our driver was early from the start and kept us on schedule without being pushy through each winery. He gave us a great intro to each stop while we were driving there, and then allowed us to experience each stop on our own without hovering. Highly recommend!

Mike is the best tour guide! - We had the best time for our Brides bachelorette party! Mike was just awesome. He made sure we got in quickly, knew all the best wines to try and felt comfortable. We also got some awesome photos because he knows how to take great pictures with great views and angles. Mike was a great addition to our group! Would highly recommend booking with Mike!

Unforgettable! - My husband and I had a great time being driven around and introduced to four beautiful vineyards, each with exceptional customer service and great atmosphere. The length of the tour is deceptive as 4-5 hours will feel more like only one hour. Mike is very easy to be around and I'm certain everyone would consider him a friend after their time with him. My husband and I are painfully novice wine drinkers but we ended the trip feeling much more confident and knowledgeable and plan to drink much more wine now!
