It is the southernmost city in the country, located along the Trebišnjica River in East Herzegovina. As of 2013, the population was 31,433. The old town area dates back to the 18th-century Ottoman era and features the Arslanagić Bridge.
Situated in the Trebišnjica River valley at the base of Leotar Mountain in southeastern Herzegovina, Trebinje is approximately 30 km (19 mi) by road from Dubrovnik, Croatia, on the Adriatic coast. The river is lined with several mills and bridges, including three within Trebinje and the historic Ottoman Arslanagić Bridge nearby. The river is extensively used for hydroelectric power. After flowing through the Popovo Polje region southwest of the city, the river, which floods every winter, naturally travels underground to the Adriatic near Dubrovnik. Trebinje is affectionately known as “the city of the sun and platan trees” and is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It serves as the economic and cultural hub of Eastern Herzegovina.

Embark on a wine tour in Herzegovina where your first stop is the charming city of Trebinje. Enjoy a tasting session at the Sekulović winery where you’ll sample the robust red Vranac and the crisp white Chardonnay. From there, you will proceed to the second winery located in the Tvrdoš monastery. A decade ago, the monks of Tvrdoš began harnessing the art of viniculture in our homeland. In a historic, 15th-century stone cellar, Vranac is aged in oak barrels that are centuries old, while just ten meters away, a modern, technologically advanced cellar is nestled next to the Trebisnjica, seamlessly blending into the existing setting.
Post your winery visit, opt for a traditional Herzegovinian meal often including Peka lamb or veal under bell.
You also have the opportunity for this to be a private tour, but to arrange this you would need to liaise directly with the provider.
