A perfect addition to a holiday. - I recently took my family on a handful of Time Trails excursions in Brittany, and genuinely want to go back for more. The trails were very enjoyable, accessible and informative. Phil Dunn beautifully blends wit and knowledge into his walks and talks which bring the many landscapes and ancient stones to life. His style mixes story, fact and honest speculation in a way that seems to erode time. You feel as if you are witnessing the creation and use of these mysterious structures. Mystery though soon disappears and is replaced by an admiration for our ancestors skill and dedication. and simple awe of how and why they were placed and that they survive. Our two teenagers were totally captivated, and unleashed a range of questions, all of which were answered with engaging clarity and humour. Phil pitched it just right for us, we didn’t have any previous knowledge, but now feel connected to this borderless phenomena that links continents and islands alike. I get the feeling these tours adjust to the needs and awareness of the groups that go along and would be equally appreciated by many with more understanding than we had. I simply can’t recommend it too much. The experience still resonates, and has altered the way I think about the past and look at the land, our continent and beyond. If you are planning a trip to Brittany put some space in your itinerary for a Time Trail. If you are not headed there, then put it on your list. We are perhaps more aware this time of year than any other of the passage of time and our planets journey around the sun. Leaves change colour, then they fall, rays of light shift in angle and shade and temperatures drop. Phil’s tours are bound to be exhilarating in any month, but as the days shorten I am certain they offer added dimensions as the stones tombs and carvings shadows reach further into the imagination.
