- Trier - The tour begins at the town’s entrance, the Porta Nigra (Black Gate), a UNESCO World Heritage Site constructed in A.D. 180. This structure was later transformed into two churches and renovated by Napoleon. On the way to the Main Market, there will be a stop to photograph the Dreikönigenhaus (House of the Three Magi), a distinctive 13th-century building. At the Hauptmarkt (Main Market), the tour will admire the charming half-timbered houses and numerous medieval attractions, including the 15th-century Gothic house known as Steipe and the 16th-century Market fountain. Following this, the tour will visit the Trier Cathedral, a 4th-century structure regarded as Germany’s oldest church. The south side of the church, destroyed in the 12th century, was replaced by the Liebfrauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), recognized as Germany’s earliest Gothic church. The next destination is the Konstantin-Basilika (Roman Imperial Throne Room), the world’s largest surviving Roman hall, built for Emperor Constantine. Adjacent to the Konstantin-Basilika is the Electoral Palace, a 17th-century rococo masterpiece considered the most beautiful of its kind. The final stop is at the Kaiserthermen (Imperial Baths), where visitors will explore its underground labyrinth and discover its historical significance.
