Its name, which translates to “Square of the Unification of Italy,” commemorates Trieste’s incorporation into the Kingdom of Italy in 1918.

• Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi - The theatre opened in 1801, making it one of the oldest opera houses in Italy.

It was originally named the Teatro Nuovo and later renamed in honor of the famous Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi in 1901.

• Piazza della Borsa - The square has been a central hub for economic and social activity since the 19th century. It is named after the historical Borsa Vecchia (Old Stock Exchange) building.
• Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Spyridon - The church was built between 1861 and 1869 to serve the Serbian Orthodox community in Trieste.
