Cappadocia - Guests will be picked up from Kayseri Erkilet or Kapadokya Nevşehir airport and transferred to the office or their hotel. The tour begins at 09:30.
Goreme Panorama - The first stop is a panoramic view of Goreme. Visitors will learn about the history and formation of Cappadocia while admiring the fairy chimneys. There will be free time for photography after the information session.
Derinkuyu Underground City - After a 40-minute drive, the tour arrives at the Underground City. Initially used by locals as a natural deep freeze, it later served as a refuge for late Romans against potential Arabian invasions. With detailed explanations from the guide, visitors will spend about an hour here.
Ihlara Valley - Located 52 km from the Underground City, the entrance to Ihlara Valley is reached after approximately 45 minutes. Formed by volcanic activity from Mt. Hasan, the valley was further shaped by the Melendiz River over millions of years, resulting in an 80-meter-deep canyon. The entire valley stretches 14 km. Historically, Christians inhabited various parts of the valley, carving and painting churches. A 3.5 km hike, lasting about 1 hour and 15 minutes, leads to a restaurant for lunch.
Belisirma - Lunch in the valley, next to the river, lasts for 1 hour. The meal begins with soup and salad, followed by a choice of main dishes, and concludes with seasonal fruits.
Selime Monastery - The tour continues to Selime Monastery, a location reminiscent of a movie set. Although it initially appears castle-like, the presence of shelters, churches, chapels, bedrooms, storages, and a large cathedral confirms its monastic nature. Information about monastic life in Cappadocia is provided.
Pigeon Valley - The climb to Selime Monastery may be tiring, but there is about an hour to rest before reaching Pigeon Valley. During the journey, the guide shares traditions, cultures, and stories about Anatolia. Upon arrival, pigeons greet visitors at the top of the valley. Pigeons have been significant to the people of Cappadocia, with their eggs and droppings used for various purposes. Locals carved houses for them into the valley slopes, which resemble “houses” upon viewing.
Kapadokya El Sanatları Merkezi - The final stop is a visit to an onyx factory in Uchisar. Onyx, a volcanic stone with various colors and minerals, is found in Cappadocia due to its volcanic nature. At the factory, a master provides information on the onyx shaping process, followed by a shaping demonstration. The tour concludes with a drop-off at the hotel.
Cappadocia
Cappadocia - At 09:15, guests are picked up from their hotel for the tour, which begins at 09:30.
Uchisar Castle - Constructed at the highest point in the region, this unique castle features graves, tunnels, and churches unlike any other place in the world.
Goreme Open-Air Museum - This museum is crucial for understanding the religious influence, particularly Christianity, in the region. It is the most renowned attraction, featuring several painted cave-churches carved by Orthodox monks between 900 and 1200 AD.
Cavusin - The next stop is the old Greek village of Çavusin, located about 4 kilometers from Göreme. The old village is largely abandoned due to rock falls. Visitors can explore the Church of John the Baptist, dating from the 5th century, with paintings from the 6th to 8th centuries. The view of Rose Valley from this village is exceptional.
Pasabag - The ideal location to see three-headed fairy chimneys. Pasabag, or the Pasha’s Vineyard, is surrounded by stunning natural rock formations, creating a spectacular scene.
Avanos - Lunch is enjoyed for 1 hour at a popular local restaurant. The meal begins with soup, followed by a self-service selection.
Bezirhane Culture, Arts and Ceramics Center - Since 2000 BC, people have sourced red clays (terra rosa) from the Kızılırmak River, Turkey’s longest river, and white clays (kaolin) from volcanic hills. These clays were used in daily life, shaped by hand on spinning wheels.
Devrent Valley - The ruins at Devrent are spread across three valleys, featuring several pointed fairy chimneys with large stems.
Sentez Avanos Hali - Rug Workshop & Store - Each carpet, with its patterns, conveys messages, beliefs, and symbols. Every woven pattern represents a feeling, desire, or wish, embodying a living history from ancient times to the present. Women have intricately woven their joys and sorrows into these carpets, creating a narrative to be read line by line. The tour concludes with a drop-off at the airport.
