• Buyukada Rum Yetimhanesi - Known as the world’s first multi-storey wooden building, it was initially constructed as a hotel in 1896. Due to permit issues, the owners sold it to a local businessman, who then donated it to a Greek foundation. This impressive structure, the largest wooden building in Europe, served as an orphanage for nearly sixty years, housing 5,000 orphans.

• Halki Theological School - Located on the site of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, established by Patriarch Photius I nearly a millennium before the theological school, the seminary fell into disrepair during Ottoman rule. In 1844, Patriarch Germanos IV transformed it into a theological school, inaugurated on 1 October 1844. The 1894 Istanbul earthquake destroyed all buildings except the 17th-century chapel, but they were rebuilt by architect Periklis Fotiadis and reopened on 6 October 1896.
