Highlights
  • Historic City of Trogir - We’ll start at the North Gate, the main entrance to the town during Medieval times. The town was fortified with city walls, restricting entry points. We’ll discuss the town’s name and its first settlers. As we stroll through the charming narrow streets, you’ll sense the continuity of life from the 3rd century BC. You’ll hear about modern life in Trogir, its patron saint, and his enduring significance. Did you know bells played a crucial role in the past? You’ll learn why. We’ll pause at the birthplace of Croatian nobleman Petar Berislavić, a key figure in Croatian history, not just Trogir.
  • Town Museum - Did you know the museum was once a noble palace? It holds fascinating stories from Trogir’s history and remains a vital part of social life today.
  • Fortress Kamerlengo - Did you know the fortress was intended as a refuge for the town’s rector during Ottoman invasions? Today, it’s a prime spot for summer concerts, offering great music in a stunning setting. Once known as the fort of chains, you’ll discover why. We’ll view the fortress from the outside, with optional entrance.
  • Igralište Batarija - Did you know Trogir has a football field in a UNESCO-protected area? Such fields are rare worldwide. From here, we’ll also see a gloriette dedicated to French rule and the tower of St. Mark.
  • Trogir Promenade - The promenade is the heart of daily life in the town. Both tourists and locals enjoy relaxing, having coffee, and spending time in this Dalmatian gem.
  • Juzna gradska vrata (South Gate) - The south gate still has its original doors, which closed in the evening. Next to the gate is a small lodge for nighttime shelter. It’s a perfect photo spot, with the gate framing your pictures and colors changing throughout the day. Behind the gate is the church and Benedictine Monastery of St. Nicholas, which tells the story of Trogir as the town of happy moments.
  • Central Square in Trogir - The square hosts all the key buildings: the court, the Rector’s Palace, noble palaces, and the cathedral. You’ll hear tales of Venetian lions, trials, the former theatre at Trogir’s heart, wealthy past residents, and more.
  • The St. Lawrence Cathedral and Bell Tower - The Cathedral is the town’s main attraction, historically significant and still important today. You’ll see the beautiful Radovan’s portal and the magnificent bell tower. You’ll hear about a wall drawing in the cathedral that continues to amaze visitors. The cathedral is a must-see. We’ll stand in front of it, with optional entrance. Inside, you can visit the beautiful chapel of St. John, the Baptistery, and climb the bell tower for a stunning town view.
