Magical winter wonderland - We had a wonderful time! Sojo and Lucas made sure we were warmed up in our suit. Both of them kept their professional despite having a demanding family of 10 asking to go back even before the fire work is set up because they have seen THE auruora. It does dimmed the rest of us a bit but the team kept it together and still proceed as what has been planned ahead. Well done Sojo and Lucas and thank you!!

Safe, comfortable, northern lights and shooting stars - Javi was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable and explained the history of Tromso and the science behind the northern lights. He made sure everyone was comfortable and included. Tour lasted 8 hours including driving to destination, toilet breaks and drop off. Mini bus was very clean and new. Adam’s driving felt very safe. We were very fortunate and caught the northern lights in an open field and could see it with the naked eye. Heard it’s not always so lucky. Also saw numerous shooting stars. Adam found us the perfect location which was safe and away from roads. Open field, clear skies and warm fire. We saw many other tours stopping on the side of the road or highway which felt very unsafe. Also saw some larger tour busses from other companies driving very fast and just seemed dangerous given the icy roads. Soup, hot chocolate, coffee and cookies were supplied. Same with arctic suits and shoes which you change into when the bus is stopped. Highly recommend Javi and Adam. Would tour with them two again!!

Erika and Michael were... - Erika and Michael were our two guides. They work so hard to try and find the Northern Lights! The Minibus was comfortable and the hot drink / dinner was good too. We drove almost 2 hours to find the right opening to see the lights and we were successful. I was then able to have a dream proposal with photos taken later by Erika. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience!

Excellent Tour - This tour was amazing! Our guide Tomas was very knowledgeable about the area and the science behind the NL which made the tour very enjoyable. I took tours with a few different companies and found Wandering Owl to be the best. I would highly recommend!

A Magical experience! - We had a magical night with our guide Javi and driver Lukazs. They really went the extra mile. We got driven to a very quiet area about an hour and a half from Tromso. Where we saw the northern lights straight away. Javi and Lukazs set up a camp fire. We had soup and hot chocolate watching the dancing lights. Javi told us there would be even stronger activity coming soon. So we then drove to another location by a picturesque lake to watch the magic unfold. When we got out of the tour bus the lights were simply amazing. Such a strong display you could see the colours so vividly. The show went on for over an hour. Some great photos were taken by Javi including a fantastic timelapse video by the lake. A special mention to Lukazs who drove the tour bus in very challenging weather conditions. A truly memorable night that we will never forget.

Awesome experience Aurora hunt - What a hoot!!! Second time booking with Wandering Owl (first in 2019) and excellent experience again! Good to see the company has retained its awesomeness as tourism grows. Two Aurora hunts taken and both with Bart. Knowledgable, friendly, organised and genuinely caring about comfort and enjoyment of guests. Choosing good spots to camp and view lights, communication and nothing was too much to ask. Attentive to guests and worked really hard all evening to make sure we enjoyed it. We saw awesome lights and had fun in the process. Wandering owl are a professional and ethical company. It never feels like “tourism” but like a group of friends go on an adventure together and have a tale to tell at the end. Can’t wait to come back with you guys again. Please keep the hot choc and cookies - they rock!!

Beautiful Lights!! - We had an amazing trip. The guide and the driver both did a great job. Our guide kept an eye on the weather app and knew where to take us to give us the best opportunity to see the lights.

A good tour with expert knowledge - We had a really good time on this tour. We were in a minibus with approximately 12 others. We were warned from the start that it would be a challenge to see the lights that evening, however within an hour we had seen them not far out of Tromso! The guides Erika (and Lukasz) were super friendly and clearly very knowledgeable about the Aurora Borealis and absolutely everything about them and had clearly been doing this for a while! Erika in particular gave a good commentary throughout. Erika also took some great pictures with her professional camera. My only feedback would be that the food option wasn't great. We were given a vegan soup and one slice of basic supermarket bread. Although the soup was tasty, it wasn't substantial for a trip lasting from 6pm-1:30am, much of which was in temperatures of -10 degrees celsius. Also at a cost of approximately 500GBP in total for the two of us, it doesn't represent value. My only other comment would be that we spent a lot of time outside the van whilst waiting in-between seeing the Aurora, with Erika trying to keep the group entertained with stories about the arctic, the aurora and even a lot of chat campfires! I think most people wanted to go back to the warmth of the van as despite the excellent clothing they provide, most people had very cold feet with their normal footwear!

Try your luck - Well the weather was rough.. but when in Tromso, you always try to go out for the Aurora hunt… They tried … but after analysing little deeper what I understood is that it’s always safer to go for the Finnish border than the coastal areas, especially when the weather isn’t that great… it was not a very pleasant experience for us at all … we would not again go to Tromso for Northern Lights … we saw it twice in our trip- in Rovaniemi and again in our Havila cruise near Skjervoy … but Tromso to us didn’t even come close
