Wandering Reindeer is a company specializing in Sami reindeer experiences, offering visitors authentic Sami adventures. Our tour accommodates small groups (16 people) around the stunning Kvaløya island with its towering mountains and Arctic fjords. During the island tour, visitors accompany a Sami reindeer herder and his reindeers, residing in the wild near Sommarøy. Visitors will witness the herder calling his reindeers living in their natural free habitat.
When the reindeer herd is assembled, guest can participate in feeding the animals. There will be a gathering in a traditional Sami lavvu (a Sami tent) around an open fire to enjoy Joik (traditional Sami music) and acquire more knowledge about Sami traditions.
Throughout the journey, a stop at the Sommarøy Arctic Hotel for a meal prepared from local produce is included. Sommarøy, a magnificent group of islands in the open sea, is 1,5 hours’ drive from Tromsø, offering guests ample time to explore the area on foot before departing the fishing community.
