Before you step into our cozy Mercedes 4x4 van, our expert guides scout the evening’s weather, space, and road conditions to select the perfect viewing location.
Leaving Tromsø behind, we’ll journey through the stunning Arctic landscape. At our destination, unwind by a crackling fire with hot beverages, cookies, and traditional Norwegian grilled pølse i brød (sausage) hot dogs. Our guide will share fascinating stories and insights about the Aurora and Northern Norway, answering any questions you have.
When the Northern Lights appear, our guides will capture beautiful portrait photos of you beneath the vibrant sky. A timelapse video will document your evening under the Arctic stars, even if the Aurora is elusive.

Northbound goes above and beyond - Oli and Ryan go above and beyond, we had a fantastic night, great company, conversation, food and of course, an incredible light display in one of the most beautiful settings.
Northbound is really something special, the tours are small, the right group size that by the end of the night you feel more like friends than strangers on holiday.
For Oli and Ryan this is clearly more than a job, it’s a passion and that feeling is infectious. The energy that they both bring means its impossible to walk away from a Northbound tour feeling anything less than awestruck.
You’ll learn a lot, hopefully you’ll see some amazing lights, you’ll definitely want to go back again.

Amazing night with Northbound - My Mom and I visited Norway recently and Northbound was one of 3 tour operators we hired to chase the northern lights. While all 3 were highly rated, Northbound was SO much better than the other two we went on after. They were our first tour and set the bar so high the other two did not stand a chance. Oli and Ryan are genuine, knowledgeable, dedicated, FUN, and simply put, wonderful people. They drove to Finland until we found a good spot with better weather than Tromsø had that night. They took amazing pictures and sent them to us the day after. They also stood out for providing warm suits - it really makes a difference not to be cold when you are outside for hours. They provided hot chocolate and snacks. It was such a memorable night, both because of seeing the Aurora for the first time but also because they made it so fun. I'm forever grateful to them and wish them the very best. Go with them!!! You wont regret it!!

Magic!!! - Doing the tour with Northbound was the BEST decision. We had an incredibly magical night. Due to the weather we had great doubts about the success, all the more beautiful was the infectious euphoria and will of Oli and Ryan. Our tour was fully booked, which means there were 4 other people in addition to us. We were a really great troupe!!! Since Ryan was not well, he unfortunately had to stop the tour and we spent the time with Oli. He did a great job. His passion for the Northern Lights and his joy when we were successful were infectious. So nice! He took great care of us. We felt like we were traveling with friends. He has so much knowledge and so much to report. This can be difficult for non-native speakers, but his English is so clear and lucid that there were no problems here. I can't put into words how unique and magical this experience was. Even if we hadn't seen the Northern Lights, it would have been an incredibly beautiful adventure thanks to Oli, which I don't want to miss. A huge thank you to Oli & Ryan for making their passion a profession and sharing it with others. We would book the two again at any time.

Experienced Northern Lights Hunters: Number One! - Our experience started with a phone call in the morning where they explained to me that there was no hope of seeing the aurora that night and that we could choose not to leave. We tempted fate and chose to leave anyway. The guys from northbound are so competent that they managed to find a cloudless corner of the sky away from the rain of tromsø. There was a lot of waiting but at a certain point the northern lights magically arrived. Other groups, that night, did not manage to see them. If you want to see the northern lights you have to choose Oli and Ryan. The best hunters of the northern lights!

Don’t miss out on this wonderful experience with the best tour company!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 - It was absolutely brilliant! Oli & Ryan were so friendly, knowledgeable & passionate about Auroras. It was a fun night & when the Auroras appeared - they went to great lengths to take awesome photos & inform us about the Auroras. The supper, conversation & ambience of the environment will stay with me, forever. It was definitely a 5 star experience! I highly recommend them & will definitely do another excursion, if I am back in Tromso again!!!

Highly recommended tour, friendly & knowledgeable guides and only tour with Timelapse - Trip was absolutely fantastic. Guides Ollie (hope I got the spelling right) and Ryan were punctual. Despite Ryan being unwell (get well soon buddy), Ollie handled the entire trip very well, preparing us for our thermal suits, setting up the camp fire and taking lovely shots of us with the aurora. Ollie is very knowledgeable and funny, really enjoyed his mini segments of Ollie fun fact! If you are looking for a good northern lights tour, esp one with good photos look no further! They are also the only company who does Timelapse which was incomprehensible. Ollie was accommodating and allowed us to stay abit longer as we were really lucky to have aurora formed every hour or so.

Northern Lights evening with Tom - Thanks to Tom the French guide who made us live a magical night , which we will never forget.
Despite the appalling weather in the Tromso region, he found us an ideal place on the Finnish border so that we could realize one of our dreams.
As we left the vehicle we looked up and were immediately surprised by the beauty of this exceptional phenomenon that we offer nature.
Aurora will continue throughout the evening with different intensities, shapes and colors. It was an irrational spectacle for a phenomenon that is nevertheless biennial.
Once again thank you to TOM and the time he took to answer our questions and allow us to deepen our knowledge about these wonders of nature that are NORTHERN LIGHTS...

A wonderful Northern lights tour with Northbound - It was a perfect evening and Oli has been amazing. The conditions were challenging, but we got to see the Northern lights and also beautiful photos of it 👏 thanks to the great experts from Northbound. It was a wonderful time together in the small group. Oli has been so kind all evening and drove us home safely during difficult weather conditions, as it was snowing heavily at night. I strongly recommend the tour with Northbound.

Very trustworthy and would definitely recommend and book again myself! - Our group didn’t get to go because the weather conditions weren’t great. I really appreciated that Oli was up front about the situation and reached out to us three hours before the tour was supposed to start. If the handling of that situation is any indication, I would totally book this group for a tour again if I’m back in town!
