The Hardest Working Guide Ever To Find The Aurora For You! - In planning our Norwegian aurora hunting vacation, I read many suggestions to book at least three northern lights chases and that is what we did. This was the last of our chases while staying in Tromso. I agree with the suggestion of booking more at least three because you never know what you are going to get. When you are planning this, you must book in advance and you don't know what the weather will be like, what the cloud cover will be like -- you just go on faith that at least one of your chases will be successful. This was the cloudiest night of all our chases and it was snowing pretty steadily. Our guide drove us to Finland and Sweden to find a clear patch of sky see the lights. In honesty, they weren't as brilliant as one of our earlier nights, but the stars were the most brilliant and clear that I had ever seen them. You could clearly see the Milky Way and there were shooting stars galore. Our guide really took it personally for us to see the lights because for some folks with us, it was their only chance. He also took us to the three point of Norway, Finland and Sweden which was pretty cool. The food and hot chocolate hit the spot as well. He was willing to stay out as long as we were, so it was a very, very long chase. I wholeheartedly recommend Greenlander because they care about their clients and go the extra mile (literally) to get you to see the northern lights.

Fabulous tour guide and trip! - We did the northern lights tour with Markus in mid March, and it was fantastic! Not only did we see awesome sights, but Markus helped us find a great viewing of the lights and is an excellent photographer! His wife made the best minestrone soup for us as well. The small group aspect of this tour was also nice compared to some of the other large bus tours. So grateful for the experience.

The most talented professional photographers and northern lights guides in the world!! - Greenlander Tromso guides have to be the most talented incredible photographers and guides of the Northern lights in Tromso if not the world. Just look at the absolutely beautiful photos they have taken on their tours, completely mind blowing!!! I can't wait on our next visit to Tromso we won't hesitate when we tour again to go with them. Thank you Markus, you are so kind, your photos are absolutely breathtaking, just perfect. This is one of his images on the night we saw the lights. I'll never forget this moment in our lives.

Incredible experience. Highly recommend! - Incredible experience. The guide Matteo drove us across the border to Finland in our hunt for clear skies. When the skies didn’t yield any colours, he efficiently set up a campfire with chairs and gave us hot vegan stew, marshmallows and hot chocolate. After hours of waiting in the meadow, we departed with some disappointment when the skies remained dark. On the way back to Norway, the aurora borealis made its appearance and danced for over a full hour for us. What an awesome spectacle! Highly recommend!

We wouldn't have seen the Northern Lights if not for Arbo!! - Me, my husband, and our 2 kids (ages 13 and 9) did the small group Northern Lights tour with Greenlander on Feb 16, 2024. Our tour guide was Arbo and he was amazing! I couldn't believe how much he did - he had to drive us, track the cloud cover, track the solar activity, communicate with other tour guides, cook homemade soup, build a fire in the snow, AND take professional photos! We were picked up around 5:30pm from our hotel in Tromso, but due to the cloud cover in Tromso, Arbo drive us about 2 hours until we crossed into Finland. Once in Finland, he found a good spot to pull off the road and set up a fire. He told us that there wasn't solar activity at the moment, so we knew we wouldn't be seeing any lights for at least a couple of hours. We had a nice sitting around the fire, eating homemade soup and cookies, and drinking hot chocolate. Around 10pm, Arbo decided to move to a different location a little further into Finland to get clearer skies. By that time, the solar activity had picked up and we were hopeful that the lights would make an appearance around 11pm. To our disappoint, they proved elusive that night. We waited until about midnight and then the group decided that we were too cold and tired to wait any longer. We packed up and started the drive back to Tromso - everyone was so disappointed, it was complete silence in the car. But Arbo didn't give up. He kept looking out the window on the drive home and about 5-10 mins into the drive back, he pulled off to the side of the road and got out of the car to look at the sky. He excitedly told us all to quickly get out of the car and when we did, we saw the lights dancing in the sky!! It was pure magic! They only stayed out for 10-15 mins (it went by so fast!), but it was enough time for us to take some photos and experience this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon. We learned from other tour groups that most people did not see the lights that night. I'm 100% convinced that we would not have seen them either if it hasn't been for Arbo's persistence - we are so grateful to him!! I would highly recommend this tour with Greenlander!

Nice Company unfortunately just Cloudy Nights - We booked the 8 person tour 2 nights of our stay in Tromso. Matteo was the guide on our first night. He was knowledgeable, passionate and tried really hard to find us clear sky's to see the lights. Unfortunately it was super cloudy this night but he did find us one short glimpse of them and was very optimistic and nice the entire time with our group. Our second night was with JJ. He was also extremely knowledgeable and nice and it was also a super cloudy evening (even more so than our first night). It was our shortest tour of the multiple tours we did on our trip though. He must've known it wasn't going to be a good night and seemed to give up pretty early in the night. The first night we received homemade lentil soup, cookies, hot chocolate and marshmallows to roast over the campfire. All were outstanding. The second night we received sauerkraut/cabbage soup, cookies and hot chocolate. The sauerkraut/cabbage was unfortunately not our favourite.

Great tour with great guide. - What a wonderful experience to see the Northern light. Mr. JJ is a friendly, knowledgeable and professional guide and photographer, he teaches me how to set up my camera and deliver great photos to us in the next day morning. Though the weather is frozen, the bonfire and hot chocolate warm us up. Of course the magical northern light delighted the trip. Thanks the Greenlander set up such great tour for us to choose.

A wonderful and unforgettable experience, perfectly organized all around. It doesn't get any better! - We had booked our Greenlander Northern Lights tour for March 28, 2024, very late in the season, one of the last tours. The organization was perfect from the start, super friendly communication by email about preparation and extensive information. On the day of the tour, our guide Markus picked us up at the hotel on time and set off as a small group of only 6 people in a well-equipped minibus (Vito). Markus guided us very competently and enthusiastically the whole evening and made the "Northern Lights" experience unforgettable for us. Everything was perfect, from the equipment to the food, the course of the tour to the photo support (Markus takes sensationally good photos) - everything was perfect. We were also lucky with the weather and strong Northern Lights activities, so in short: it couldn't be better! We can definitely recommend Greennlander and will definitely come back!

Fantastic trip to Northern Lights- strongly recommend Greenlanders! - JJ was an excellent tour guide. He was very patient and brought us to a lovely place by the fjords and mountains where we had a fantastic experience seeing the Northern Lights. He also took lovely photographs of us and of the light show which we all get at souvenirs. Thank you JJ and the team!

Amazing night out in Tromso - I couldn’t recommend this tour enough. My husband and I were in Tromso for three nights with the hopes we would catch the Northern Lights at least once. We made it just in time to go on the last tour of the year. Markus did excellent job with reviewing all available information to ensure we were in the best spot for the evening, even changing directions after first picking us up. We were in a private, secluded spot in a small group. He came with enough fire wood for the night, soup, hot chocolate and tea to help keep us warm. Luckily with patience, we did get spoiled with a great showing of the sky. This was an added bonus as it’s all up to Mother Nature if they choose to appear for the night. We were very happy overall with the experience. I’ve included some of Markus’s pictures which he provided to us promptly the next morning.
