Don't Be Afraid of a Bus Tour! This Was Outstanding! - With all my advance planning, I didn't originally book with Arctic Guide Service for our northern lights chases. I didn't plan on a chase for our first day in Norway because I thought we'd be too jet lagged. However, in checking the weather the week before our departure, it looked like the first night was going to be the clearest in terms of weather so we decided to go for it. Booking a northern lights trip on short notice didn't leave us with many choices, but I am sooo glad that Artic Guide Service was our choice! We saw the best display of the northern lights of all our chases (and we did two others besides this with other companies). In truth, I can't credit the good luck to Arctic Guide Service, but I can credit them with taking us to three fantastic locations for viewing. In the first location, the lights were present, but very dim. My husband and I were honestly disappointed and we wondered if we traveled all this way for something we aren't really even sure we saw. The guides were helpful in telling you what setting to put your cell phone in for manual setting, but the night mode worked the best for me as long as you could hold the camera steady for a few seconds. The second and third locations made up for the first and then some - the lights were big and bright and shimmering and magnificent! They were breathtaking! I will never forget this experience for all of my days. We saw them with our naked eyes very well, but truth be told, you camera captures them even better than your eye can. If you just have a cell phone point it up and snap as many as you can because you don't know what you will get until you look at them later. They move and change. At the third location, the guides took two professional photos of everyone with a proper camera and a tripod and they took professional photos of just the aurora too. Their website was very easy to use to download the photos. They do look terrific on our cameras, laptops and cast to our TV. I haven't tried to print any yet so I can't speak to the resolution if you want to blow them up. We have plenty of photos of our own as well. They had hot chocolate and cookies for everyone, which was very nice. We dressed properly and were comfortable even though it was -15C. You must dress properly and it helps to have a glove liner with fingers that will react with the screen once you take off your mittens because you can't take photos with mittens. Honestly, if you purchase good warm fingered gloves that can work the screen, you will be fine. Hat, wool layers, snow pants, coat and boots are essential. So be a cool kid and sit at the back of the bus like us and enjoy the celestial show!

Good experience - Very good tour guides. Gave out hot chocolate and cookies. At first we were in a cloudy location but then they took us to a new location without cloud cover, where we had a good sighting of aurora. I would however recommend trying to hunt for aurora yourself (if you hire a car) because you can go to locations without other people there. Regardless, the tour was good.

Great value - One of the least expensive tours, but we got to see the lights, and our tour guides were very good at making sure guests had a chance to get their pictures made.

Awesome! - Taking into account that the degree of satisfaction of this tour is mostly subject to the activity at the time, we give it a 10! We were very lucky that night (March 26) and we were able to see the magic! I went with the idea that I wouldn't be able to really see the auroras as they appear in the photos (the intensity of the colors), but we were so lucky that we saw very very very intense colors! It was outrageous. We even get to see the red-purple color that is usually more difficult to observe. The only thing to say is that the tour is not in Spanish (although they offer this option), but there are guides who speak in Spanish and you can ask them anything that is not clear to you. It would also be nice to offer something else to eat. In short: super passionate guides (Gabriela and Jago) and an incredible experience!

Amazing experience! - We took the tour in mid-February with tour guides Boris, Gabriela and driver Ragnar. They were extremely professional, experienced and friendly, providing us the best experience. Boris and Gabriela were consistently looking for the best places to see the Northern Lights with safety as number one priority. Eike in the central office was very helpful and ensured we got the right thermal suits and explained some of the logistics. We were very fortunate and blessed to have seen the northern lights multiple times that evening. It is not guaranteed that one will see the northern lights since it is a natural phenomenon however this team will do their very best to ensure you see them if there is any probability to see the northern lights. I would definitely do this tour again and recommend this team!

NOrthern lights - We did not get to see the northern lights (April 2, 2024). We could have rebooked for another night 50% off, but that would make it very expensive to still possibly not see them. It should be free to go for a second night. On the plus side, they did provide hot chocolate and cookies while we were waiting at a stop.

Disappointed in the Guides and Experience - definitely not worth the money - If you want to see the northern lights, you are much better off renting a van and driving around on your own since we just bounced to different car parks. The guides would benefit significantly from improving their attitude / tone of voice. Despite the lack of electro-magnetic activity, they could have shared interesting facts, tell us about the area, or say something to excite us and make the high price worth it. They talked so slowly and negatively. They could have at least said nice things about the areas we drove by and stories about amazing times they did see the northern lights in a captivating voice considering how expensive this tour was.
