Great family experience! - What a fantastic experience! We went as a family with our 9 and 5 yr olds and they loved feeding the reindeer. The stew and bread and coffee and tea for lunch were hot and delicious. Hearing about the Sami traditions and culture from John Michael (English version of his name) shed light on something we knew very little about.

Loved it! - Beautiful setting for reindeer feeding and Sami cultural experience. Our Sami was very engaging and interesting and gave us so much wonderful information about their lives and work with reindeer herds. Great reindeer stew for lunch as well. Friendly animals and they were very hungry when we first went in to feed them. Very enjoyable tour!

Love feeding the... - Love feeding the reindeer. It was a great experience. The Sami man was great. He answered so many questions about the life and culture of his people. We learned so much, and he also had a sense of humor so it was entertaining and educational. Pice of advise.....dress casual, the reindeer sometimes jump on you for food and it can be muddy, but it made for good laughs and great pictures.

Reindeer feeding and Sami cultural experience - A fantastic tour. We were on this tour with 2 adults and 2 children (9, 13). After an hour's drive we arrived at the reindeer farm. We were greeted very warmly by Nils and his Sami family and we went into a heated Sami hut. There were warm drinks (water, tea, hot chocolate). Nils greeted us and gave us a short introduction to how to handle the reindeer. He then led us to the adjacent enclosure, everyone was given a bucket of food and we were allowed to enter the enclosure. The reindeer immediately approached us in a friendly manner and let us feed them, whether from the bucket or by hand. When the buckets were empty, we went back to the hut and had the stew (vegetarian or reindeer) we had ordered when booking and Nils, a real Norwegian Sami, told us about his culture and answered our questions before we were driven back to the meeting point. Absolutely worth seeing and highly recommended, although not exactly cheap, but still a unique experience.

A surreal experience - An amazing experience for the animal lovers. The reindeer farm is located 45 min from the city centre. The route to the farm is extremely picturesque with phenomenal view of the fjords (snow capped mountains, lakes). I couldn't take my eyes off for a minute from the landscape. The farm is located in a very scenic place with amazing views. You get over an hour to feed and interact with the reindeers. They are very friendly and loving animals. Given the extremely beautiful landscape, I would highly recommend going during the morning slot as there will be some day light to enjoy the breath taking views. While evening tours may provide an opportunity to spot northern lights while feeding reindeers (if you are extremely lucky), but on won't be able to appreciate the landscape. An option of reindeer or vegetable stew is provided at the farm after the reindeer feeding.

Half a day at the top! - Recommended activity! Hades feeding the reindeer It's super fun and the stories of the Sami culture conclude the experience perfectly. For a half day perhaps the price is a little high but for a one time life experience it can be done.

This is an ok trip - The reindeer are in a big pen.. nice to feed them for 15 minutes. Then you sit for an hour or so with tea in the tent. Later there is soup and info about saami culture. The bus was late to pick us up and we waited in the cold rain 20 minutes. The trip was ok, nothing special. If you have time maybe go but don’t go out of your way. It is probably more picturesque in the winter.

Lovely scenery and reindeer experience, but not as "traditional" as we expected - We booked the Reindeer Sledding/Feeding/Sami Culture tour, but unfortunately the sledding part of the trip was cancelled due to the weather conditions. A bit disappointed of course, but it would only have been a 15-minute ride & we understand that the safety of the animals must always be a priority. Anyway, the tour guide said we would receive a partial refund & this was processed on our credit card account within 48 hours. The drive (large coach, big group) through the beautiful landscape was wonderful, we saw some fabulous scenery. When we arrived at the reindeer farm, we were surprised (and slightly disappointed) to discover that the "traditional lavvu Sami tent" which we expected to experience during the lunch & Sami Culture part of the trip was actually a rather new looking, purpose-built large circular wooden structure. We suppose the traditional tents are not big enough to accommodate such big groups, but this was not mentioned in the advertising by Tromso Lapland. Feeding the reindeer was fun; we had plenty of time to be with them and take some great photos. We then had hot chocolate, tea or coffee in the "tent" followed by a hot lunch of either reindeer or vegetable stew. After feeding & admiring the reindeer, the idea of a reindeer meat lunch was (literally) "a bit hard to swallow" & the majority of people opted for the vegetarian stew (us included). The young man who gave a presentation about Sami culture was very entertaining and funny. We expected to hear some traditional Sami music and singing, but this didn't happen, perhaps other tour companies offer a more "traditional" experience.
